Well, I finally did it after "searching" for my gradual lost power & smoke since Winter. After replacing the lift pump & adjusting the valves I have regained most of my perceived lost power and the truck is now running Sweet.



Last May, Ted Jannetty R&R'ed my Bosch VE pump w/ one of his enhanced 20% over Max Fuel and enhanced AFC settings (internally set) and accurately timed, also installed set of BD injectors. I have stayed away from tampering w/ ANY external VE settings until now. I 'twisted' the Max Fuel adjustment Screw approx. 180 degrees and can now produce copious amounts of black smoke almost to the point of embarrassment. I plan to adjust the AFC & smoke screw to clear this up a bit but any lost power has been replaced by a "Twist of the Screw"! :) I think I might be able to finally "Whoop" the former Old School ride... ;)



DISCLAIMER:

Please don't adjust the Max Fuel screw w/ stock injectors though... . It will only shorten the life of the VE. Aftermarked injectors are need for the limited fueling of the VE.



I'm now going home to make further adjustments so I can continue to be viewed as a responsible diesel owner... . "I am my own warranty station", "I am my own warranty station" :D

U wanna talk about smoke...

I decided to go a little playful on my full power adjustment recently... i do have PW's in so it's not so bad, but she's turned about 5 screws out and u wanna talk about smoke... Look out Joe Donnelly!. . :D
