I have a 01 Ram2500 with an HX35. I was wondering what max Hp I can achieve with this turbo before it will be a restriction causing egt problems. This would be at sea level. This is a 5 speed 4x4 truck.

It depends what you want to live with insofar as EGT is concerned. Although my truck is an ETH and therefore runs higher EGTs, I have to watch the pyrometer when towing our 5th wheel as I could exceed 1300 degF if I'm heavy on the throttle for too long - that's at 347 RWHP/762 lb-ft torque.

For reference, my truck would hit 1300 degF pre-turbo EGT box stock, so that's my personal upper limit for towing. I don't like to go over 1200 degF sustained, but that's just my personal preference. YMMV.

On the Dyno Dynamics dyno at the Texas Rally, I hit 430. 1 RWHP at 25Lbs boost, and ~1,500*F. That's with the stock exhaust housing.

Cruising, and just general hot dogging is way fun. EGT's are high, but acceleration is so quick, EGT's can't stay high long enough to really cause any serious damage. (unless you're towing, then you can turn the box down)

I started loading on the dyno at 1,250RPM, and hit 15PSI before I started the run.

(That dyno is cool   )
