What is the maximum weight these 2500 Dodges can haul. I need to pick up a load of retaining wall block, a pallet weighs 3000lbs. can it handle that kind of load?
If you are not going far or fast I wouldn't worry. You will be a little overloaded.
I picked up 2 pallets of retaining blocks with my 3500 a while back, much to the amazement of the gang at the supply yard. (they didn't know I had air bags). The guy that sold me the block said each pallet was over 3,000 lbs and a standard truck couldn't carry 2. Everyone gathered around as the forklift pushed the first pallet down the bed with the second and let the load down. Got a couple "damn's". Drove off like the truck was empty.
Neighbor across the street came home the week before with 1 pallet and his F250 sagging heavily. He had boasted a couple of times about how much better a ford is, and how much harder they can work. The day he brought his pallet home he was bragging about how much weight his truck could carry. Should have seen his face when I pulled in with two pallets and the bed level. :-laf
It would be helpful if you entered your truck information into your signature so that we know more about the truck. Year, model, trans, axle ratio, and whatever else you want to show off. Welcome to the TDR.
I've had 3800# of cushed rock in mine. Also have carried a pallet. Don't stop fast with the pallet - the blocks may shift and you might end up with some on your console.
