How much HP will the pump support?

I have been a diesel racer for years. . My nephew has taken interest in racing diesel trucks, and I've found a 92 2wd auto that I'm considering. I'd like him to start out running 12's - 13's. What kind of power can be made with the rotary pump? How much does it cost to modify a first gen injection pump for dragstrip duty? What shop is known to do a good job modifying them? All help is appreciated. .

13's are pretty possible without getting too extreme. The auto will be the biggest problem. You will have to get a shift kit and a tight converter to not lose all the power. 350 to 400 hp is very achievable and with traction and maybe some weight cutting I would think 13's are dueable.

I am very used to modding the rest of the truck, it's just the rotary pump that I am very unfamiliar with. The rest of the truck would just be a basic setup. . Suncoast trans, DDP4's, II SPS turbo, O-ring, head studs, gauges, and exhaust. I have a lot of stuff laying around from past builds. .

the injectors are different from a p-pump 12'er to a ve pump motor. Other than the shortage of aftermarket injectors all the other stuff carries over. The pump is actually much simipilar to turn up and tune than a p-pump IMO. Turn some screws, do some grinding and your makin some pretty good power.

I guess I really didn't know that you wanted to go all out with this. With money in turbo's and injectors people have hit 500hp without going to the 14mm head and rotor. With the 14mm who know's, no one has found the limit yet but stomp has hit 680 with w/m. refer to the sticky on the top of the page to read about that. There are some pretty good links on how to turn up the ve but I don't know how to do that. The one I used first was on the tst website I believe.

I guess I should say that 12's are definently possible and a first gen would be the cheapest one to do it in.
