I was wondering what the max torque a stock clutch will take before it begins to slip??

Right now, with stock215Hp- 450# torque or so towing a 15,000# 5th wheel, I have no problem under any circumstances.

At what torque would I begin to slip the clutch?

I read about guys putting certain fuel plates and inj. on unloaded and slip the clutch.

Thanks in advance.

I have basically the same set up, I am running the number 11 plate. I have towed about 10,000 pounds without a problem. If you slam the clutch between gears under a heavy load i have felt a little slip, you do not want to glaze the clutch! if you just tow under power I think you will be fine. You had better get an EGT gauge, with heavy weight I have had to let up a bit to keep the EGT's under control.

Mine held fine with 283RWHP. Then I got the #10 plate. It's like an instant clutch slip additive. ;)

The new Southbend went in Saturday. Too early to tell, still breaking it in.
