Scallops over an open fire...

What spare parts to carry for long trip to the boonies

I have used my MaxBrake on my '06 with many trouble free miles. No IThink I have a problem the trailer brakes don't work, kinda' suddenly. I've got to be back on the road to Texas next week, and I don't want to change controller on the way. When these things fail is it overnight or do they get worse and worse? Any body got any suggestions? I hate to give it up, but I don't want to be broke down. Thanks for your help.

I had one in my 04 so I know how much you like it. I wish I kept it and installed it on my 15. It was a much better controller than my factory unit. When electronics fail it's usually all at once. If I were you, and I'm not you know, I'd buy a cheap unit and try that. If it works make your trip and then at your convenience look for another high end controller. I've heard good things about DirecLink.

So a couple questions are in order. Do the brakes work with the manual lever? Is the display lit up? The displays are noted to fail with the unit still working as a brake controller. If you pull the break away pin do the trailer brakes lock up?

I also wish I had kept mine!!!

SNOKING. Took time today to check my MaxBrake and guess what! The brake control works as it is supposed too both with the manual operator and with the foot brakes, now it is time to get the trailer brakes adjusted. Thanks for your suggestion SNOKING.
