Purchased a Maxbrake controller in mid 2010. Due to wife's illness wasn't able to install until mid 2011. It went unused until 2014, after my wife passed away. Towed my 5ver to trade in for a smaller TT. Was amazed with the Maxbrake performance, for the first time towing the 5ver stops were as a single unit. Well, bought a 24' TT and have towed it 3 times over I80 with flawless performance. Last weekend on Hiway 28 half way between North Tahoe and Hiway 50 I had a stop light and felt the TT pushing truck and not stopping like it should. The display didn't have the brake bar going across when the brakes were applied or when the lever was used. The rest of the display was working. Have read that there was a bad splice in the sensor cable and problems with the trucks TIPM. Any ideas on how to isolate? The trailer lights work ok.

Our condolences on your loss.
We were a MB dealer for almost 6 years and would be more than happy to try and help you if we can. One thing you can try 1st to see if it is the sensor cable is to go to Staples, Office Depot, etc and purchase an Ethernet cable. If your system works with the Ethernet cable, your cable should be fine. If it doesn't work, we may have to do further investigating.
it never hurts to recalibrate as a processes of elimination & I do have a few other suggestions you can try. If you wish, you can call me at 941-416-0918 10 am to 10 pm 7 days a week pacific time right now. Di
