I have a MaxxBrake trailer brake controller installed and it has worked perfectly for the past two years. Two weeks ago, I purchased a set of PIAA 520 Fog Lights and mounted them on a Aries Bull Bar. I carefully ran the wiring making everything look pretty. Wih this PIAA setup, there are three 18 gauge wires that pass through the firewall to the on/off switch. These three wires run through the same hole in the firewall as the sensor cable to the MaxxBrake. When I turned the Fog lights on, they worked perfectly. However, when I turn the fog lights off, the MaxxBrake behaves like I turned it off and back on. The MaxxBrake display goes blank for a about a second and turns back on running through its start up. All the MaxxBrake settings are still there. It appears that nothing changes in the MaxxBrake controller. I turned the lights off and back on a couple of times to be certain I wasn't imagining this. I am using different ground points and different 12V source than the MaxxBrake system. The only thing they have in common is the hole in the firewall where the sensor cable and the switch wires pass for about 6 inches together. Is it possible there is some type of "EMI" interference in those 12V switch wires that the sensor cable is picking up? Any guess's guys?
