No moisture probs here......

Drove through some pretty heavy rain the other day too. I remember on the original BHAF thread that the marine versions were discussed and that they didn't have the same filtering ability. Mostly because of the typical clean enviroment that they are used in. I could see on the ocean that if the engine wasn't used for extended periods that the moisture could build up and on start up be a problem.

I drive mine daily so it gets air dried everyday and don't see it being a problem even in high humidity.

Someone did express a concern or opinion about the Marine version, but when I called Fleetguard's Tech Help line they insisted both had the same filtration capability. They can be reached at 1-800-22FILTER if anyone wants to hear it straight from them instead of second-hand from me. If you get a different story than what they told me, be sure to report back, 'cause I don't want to be spreading bad info!

Any more info. on this topic? Anyone know about the replacement filters with the "new" part numbers with the metal screen/mesh inside?

Cont. 'd this post discussion from "Mallory Air Cleaner Mount by: JStordahl on 12-03-01. "... . and from this site:

Thought this may be of a little more concern since so many people are going to the BHAF AH19037.

Yesterday I went to Cummins and after talking to a friend who works there I purchased Fleetguard #AH19002. It is the 8" not 10" which gives me more room to work with but still has much more filter surface area than the stock box. My reason for purchasing this filter was for this... it has fiber glass fibers and the inside metal screen. If it gets wet,FOR ANY REASON, it not collapse and get sucked into the turbo, which in turn will chop it into fine pieces of garbage that will then ruin the intercooler. When my buddy explained it this way my choice was easy. It is X2 as much money. But anything beats the formentioned happening. https://www.turbodieselregister.com/ubb/eek.gif
