CMEP RALLY....Are we getting ready????

Joseph Donnelly

TDR MEMBER
The 19th Annual Turbo Diesel Register (TDR) Western Regional Rally, “May Madness”

The 19th Annual May Madness will be held on April 30--May 5, 2013 in Pahrump, Nevada. We plan to hold most events at Saitta-Trudeau Dodge and at Preferred RV (the host RV Park). We will have the Wednesday evening "pot luck" dinner as in past years, This year on Saturday, instead of a traditional banquet, we will have a bar-b-que dinner at the RV Park clubhouse.

The rally will include vendors’ participation including seminars and the Hall of Gottahavits. " Chrysler warranty personnel will give technical talks question-and-answer sessions, as well as sessions with the DRB-3 and WiTech diagnostic software tools. Technical talks will be held Wednesday and Thursday. Product discussions will be Friday and Saturday in conjunction with the Hall of Gottahavits. We will have a "Round-table" discussion of technical issues with the vendors and Chrysler representatives leading the discussion on Friday evening. There will be a Ram Roundup for all attendees on Saturday. Non-diesel related activities will include swimming, craft classes, card games, pool, stained glass, woodworking, exercise room, demonstration of the Sheriff's Department K9 unit, and a golf outing.

Diesel Specialists of Las Vegas and BD Power will hold a Dyno Day on Thursday with their high inertia, wide roller Dynojet, for TDR member attendees of May Madness. Pre-registration for the Dyno Day is being made so Diesel Specialists and BD power can plan their event. Include $30 with your May Madness registration and the dyno pre-registration information and funds will be forwarded to them. BD will give the first forty who pre-register a $30 gift certificate (at the Dyno Day event) good for any BD manufactured product at BD directly; this certificate may also be redeemed at Diesel Specialists for $50 on the Dyno Day, a bonus of $20 from them.

The host RV Park is Preferred RV Resort (800-445-7840; www.preferredrv.com). This RV Park is across the side street from the Pahrump Nugget. They are once again giving us the special rate of $15. 49 including tax. Be sure to tell them you are with “MAY MADNESS. ” Their clubhouse holds 130 people and will be the site for most activities.

Hotel options include the Pahrump Nugget (866-751-6500; www.pahrumpnugget.com) which is conveniently located close to Saitta-Trudeau Dodge and the RV park. Two other choices are the Best Western Hotel and RV Park (775-727-5100), and Saddle West Hotel/Casino/RV Park (800-433-3987, www.saddlewest), both in Pahrump.

Please register for May Madness--2013 early so you and we can plan for a better rally. Note that the registration cost is lower if you are an “early-bird. ” If you need special, or vendor, accommodations, contact Joe Donnelly for arrangements: 505-858-1966 or -- email address removed --

One thing Dutch & I would like to suggest is a golf outing. It could be just a fun day a friendly tournament or serious. This would be open to both men & women.

Dutch & I will sponsor it and take care of setting it up and running it. We sure know that Mountain Falls is a g-r-e-a-t golf course.

We'd like to get an idea of how many might be interested in doing this so we can work on possible dates &pricing.

So how bout it? Are you in???? Hugs, Di

I was also wondering since this is a yearly affair if we could make "May Madness 2013" a Sticky. It sure would make it easier to find and to check and see what updates have been made.

Mr. Moderator--can this be done? Di

Along with our regular seminars by the Chrysler folks and our Vendors we have some other activities scheduled.

Way back in October Di Irrgang suggested that some of you might want to get together for a round or two of golf. There was no response to her comment. We want to again suggest that those of you who may want to put together a group are more than welcome to get in touch with Di... Last year a few did go out to golf, but no one knew that others were playing. Please let Dutch and Di know so that they can put something together. You can either contact them directly or post here so that others will know. Their phone number is: 941-416-0918.

We have some fun crafts for the ladies this year. Elise, Captured Colors, is coming back. This year she will be teaching a scarf dying/ painting class, and a scarf knitting/crocheting class. There will again be a quilt time where you can help make quilts for cancer kids. This went over well last year. We plan to have a card making class, also. As soon as I hear from the craft lady here at the park regarding what kind of card class (Stamping-Up or Sewing) I will post it here.

We are also suggesting a couple of tours. One is the Red Rock Canyon driving tour. Red Rock Canyon is a National Conservation area. They have a very interesting 13 mile scenic drive tour. Posted along the way are restrooms, picnic sites, and parking areas where you can get out and take pictures. The entrance fee for one day is $7. 00. Also, there is a historic winery (Sander's Family Winery), which sounds pretty interesting. The Willards are here in Pahrump with us, and we plan to visit this winery. We also hope to take that Red Rock Canyon driving tour. If we are able to put these items on our agenda before MM, I will post our thoughts on this site.

The tours mentioned in my previous post would be self-guided. You will pick the time and day you want to go, get together a group and head out. I will have sign-up sheets for anyone interested at Registration at the Dealership on Tuesday Apr. 30th.

Forgot to sign the previous post. Don't do this very often.

Bob & Nancy Simerly, currently at Preferred RV Resort in Pahrump, NV

I heard from the craft lady here at the park. She told me that there will be a Stampin-Up card class on Saturday, May 4th at 10AM. The class costs $10. 00, including all supplies, and you will have 3 finished cards at the end of the class.

Hope to hear from some of you soon.

Nancy

Nice update Nancy. We hope to "squeeze" in a round of sometime during the rally and if anyone wants to join us, let us know at -- email address removed -- so we can make a few tee times. If there is any interest, I will call to get pricing

The Red Rock self guided tour sounds neat and if I can manage it, I'll try to get to some of the "girly" activities you've planned.

We've made it as far as Fort Stockton, TX and are peddling as fast as we can -----we only drive 56mgh so it take us a bit longer and we do have a few "must" stops before we get to Pahrump

Can't wait to see everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hugs, Di

Well!!! Once, again, I'm missing 'another' May Madness due to circumstances beyond my control. I certainly hope that all that DID attend had a great time. As I write this, you are probably finishing the biscuits & gravy/scrambled eggs breakfast on Sunday morning. Sounds awfully good, to me. Going to M/M is one of the things I enjoy the most, in life, & missing them just kills me. Can't wait to be able to attend, regularly, once again. Save me a biscuit!!!!

Joe Fihn

While it was a bit smaller in numbers and everything was held at the Preferred RV park instead of the Nugget, we did have a wonderful time. Food, fun, food, vendors, food seminars-get my drift???? There were several classes for the ladies which were very interesting although, I didn't have a chance to participate.

The weather was wonderful and there was a great lineup of trucks for the annual picture. There was some "shooting" out in the desert and of course showing off and/or talking about our trucks is always fun.

We were told at the dinner that there will be a May Madness 2014!!!! Work is in progress for more things to do and more vendors to line up. While details are still being worked out, I do hope that Joe and/or Nancy do post updates on the forum -hopefully monthly-to keep this topic alive and well. There was talk of ways to get attendance back up and what was discussed would be a great thing to share with folks on the forum.

Just talking up the rally up the rally frequently on the forum, will definitely help get people interested in attending. Some people have to get their vacation time arranged far in advance. Hugs, Di

I'm sorry I couldn't make it, but I will be there next year, may I suggest trying to get someone from B&W with their products on display.
