Mid Atlantic Rammers Meetings and announcements

A Doins in Indiana?

May Madness was great. Aside from a DC rep who had no reason being there everything was wonderful. The rumour mill says this could have been the last. I hope not. John and Polly Holmes do a lot of work to put this on. Carson City Dodge did an excellent job as well including getting my buddies truck back together. I stayed at the Silver City RV Resort and there wasnt a day where at 6:30 in the morning TDR members were chatting with each other. In the Morning!!!If you slept in a lot of talk and info was being missed. Bill,Gary,Rick,Bob and all the others I met. It was great meeting you and we will need to do it again. For me Im waiting for the registration forms for next year. #ad

If DC does not help support the MM event next year, John Holmes has two choices: (1) take a year off; (2) charge what the event would cost without their support.
Maybe you should vote on these choices. I recommended to John #2 which would be $110 per person. Considering we paid $98 last August for the Nationals, not too bad. Furthermore, some events could be optional and the cost could be incremental. For example, Day in the Dirt might cost $25 of the 110, so registration cost would be broken out accordingly, $85 for MM registration, and $25 for DITD. John could specify that if x registrants paid for y event by z date, the optional event would happen. If not, it would be cancelled.

I would rather pay what it costs for MM to make sure it happens, and not go begging DC to help. This year they vacillated and almost ruined MM. John just does not need that kind of stress and we do not need to have our plans cancelled by someone in Germany who just doesn't give a darn about us Yanks. It is just one more thing after telling us we will be assimilated by MB engines (will they ship 100,000 engines over the pond by boat to put into Rams--they have no engine building capacity here). We don't want to lose our beloved Cummins engines or May Madness, do we?

I'll jump in and reafirm what Joseph mentioned. John Holmes suffered a severe setback at the hands of DC for this years event. This would not go unchallenged in a business atmosphere (lawsuit). You don't restructure a budget retroactively. I am quite concerned about the health of this event. We had a ball up there and I would hate to see this event turn into a diesel ghost town.

I'm with Joe on this one. Let us fund our own event. I realize that this may be a hardship on some people (retired, fixed income etc. ), but it is better that the alternative, of no May Madness at all. I too had a wonderful time and met a lot of nice people.

Joseph, did you hear this one?
Q: How do the Germans pronounce "Diamler-Chrysler"?
A: The "Chrysler" is silent!
I can't take credit for that one, I heard it from a friend who shall remain nameless.

Joe, I couldn't make this years (*#@Q&$#), but I'll vote for a self-supporting event. If 'X' many prepaid registrations aren't recevied by 'Y' date then it's cancelled. An individual shouldn't have to bear the financial stress and burden. I suspect there will be enough supporters to make it a go.

Joe,I concur with you. I have no problem paying more. I would prefer this compared to not having anymore MM. There must be others who feel the same way. Post your feelings about this. Lets hear some input and maybe Joe can convince John to do it again.

Count me in!!! I would be glad to pay more to save MM.

Man are you guys all made out of money or what. Just kidding I guess I would pay a couple of extra bucks for all the fun that can be had at MM. Just a quick note to say THANKS to all the guys who helped me change everything on my truck and advise for the sole purpose of power during MM. Here is a few that I can remember Joe Donnelly, Piers, Steve from Oregon, Paul from Ramrunners, Chip from Blue Chip, Steve from ATS and lets see about 30 others that stood around while I removed and installed parts by the bucket. It sure was fun and I learned a bunch. Hopefully I can share the info with others in the future.
