May Madness sled pulling

We have sled pulling set up for Friday evening in Pahrump, NV, May 5, 2006. A number of folks have "agitated" for this activity.



Some have said they would not come unless we have pulls. Others criticized May Madness for not having pulls every year.



Here is my problem. NONE of those big-talking pullers have pre-registered for May Madness this year. I don't know if ANYONE will hook up to the sled.



We have a lot of pre-registered participants, and some of those will probably pull. What about this very vocal minority. . . where are your registrations?

I'm not a big-talker, but if I can make it I WILL pull. That's the whole reason I would dome down there.

I think you will see there's been some questions on the other thread(events) and there's been no response, so many of us don't know what to plan for --there's another sled pull on Saturday that we are planning on trying to attend and we need to know what time so we figure out what to do----chris

You can access info on MM06 from the TDR homepage. Pulls are scheduled for Friday evening. I have no preference on rules; the folks bringing the sled may have some; otherwise, whatever the pullers, track owner, etc. agree upon is fine.

Joe--what info? there's one sentence that just says dirt drags and sled pulling Friday afternoon and evening at the Pahrump speedway---we need exact times---some of us don't just show up and drive on to the track and hook to a sled and go--we need time to prep the truck-pull-then unprep---so it's nice to know specifics--plus with no rules how does anyone know what can be done or can't---some guys may show up and then need to rip their trucks apart or scramble to add stuff, because this isn't accepted or this is-can you please get us the registration times and when the pull will officially start and see if the sled operator has some sort of rules he abides by---chris

Ah Duh Dr, Joe you created your own problem, we have been trying to get info for months about the pull with negative results. We were vocal because we wanted to come but needed information that you obviously didn't provide even thus far. Why would we pay, commit and drive over 10 hours with out knowing anything and even after trying to get info with no responses.



We were looking for stuff like this:



Who is doing the pull?

Classes?

Rules?

Gate times?

Weigh in times?

Start time?

Pay outs, if any?

How much $$$ to pull?

How much for $$$ for pit crews?



Honestly, you can't just say your having a pull, wait for folks to commit, then plan it. It has to be the other way, Plan it, advertise it, and folks will come.

A company in Idaho is bringing the sled. I don't pull so don't know what rules or times are best. Why not make recommendations, sort it out on this form, and go from there. The purpose of the pulls is to provide an activity some people want, the way they like to do it.

We (Diesel Pullers Org. ) have put a lot of time and argument into our rules and feel they are very fair, breaking down the pullers into three classes. All the rules are very clear as stated on the website in Chris Sutton's post. If nobody has rules in place for this pull yet, then maybe these rules should be implemented NOW, to reduce confusion and eliminate possible chaos the day of the pull.



Also, the EXACT times of scale opening/closure, registration, and first hook need to be posted ASAP, so we can plan ahead.

A company in Idaho is bringing the sled.

The only one in Idaho is Rocky Mountain Pullers. I would expect to see similar rules and setup as Bully Dog Dog days last year. But where it is May Madness and not their own pull it would probably be a good idea to figure it all out here. I am a meber of Rocky Mountain and we are having a meeting the end of this month I can find out their intentions and let you guys know.

I think Joe is doing his best to please everybody here. Maybe Joe could appoint somebody to take care of the pulls, that way its haddled correctly from a sledpuller point of veiw.

Reb B. --Joe should've had this all figured out long ago--it's not that hard--he had to contact the racetrack to get times of use--he contacted the sled operator to procure him for the event--the sled operator should have told him I need X hrs for registration and tech(maybe that # is 4 hrs-5hr) and then I need 2-3 hrs to get the pull completed and 2 hrs after that to load up and skeeedaaadddle---bingo there's your time frame and now you have to set the times---say 12pm-4pm to register and tech and then the pulls start no later than 5pm--pulls over at 7pm and everyone is gone by 9pm----as for rules he needs to ask the sled operator if he has them or if Joe himself should provide them--if Joe needs them there's links on the internet to get him at least 3 good options, which includes the DPO rules---so this isn't that hard--provide a link to the rules and your done---chris

No it is not United Pullers. They are out of Utah. It is Rocky Mountain Pullers Association. But they have similar rules. I pull with both of them.
