The Official DHRA Indiana Diesel Nationals thread!

What? No Turbo Tech 2006?!

Okay, I finally got ahold of someone who can give me some answers on the Sled Pull in Pahrump. It will be the Rocky Mt. Pullers Assoc Rules and they said that for now registration and tech will start at 5:00 p. m. and the pull will start at 7:00 p. m. Merv wants to move the tech up to maybe noon or 3:00 p. m. so he can have all the info by 5:00 and the pull would still start at 7:00 but they are asking me for feedback and I am not the one to ask. I will forward the E mail and all the info to Craig tonight and have him sort through it, so I know Tom and Scott can call him or he can post.

The GOOD thing is they are saying there will be a $500 purse for the Pro Mod winner. So it looks like there will be some money to entice the big boys. (they need to at this point). So if anyone has a preference for start times this would be a good time to post it.

I really don't get it..... I sent them a link to this thread in hopes that they would read it and I got the E mail back instead of them posting it for you guys to see who need to see it. Oh well. If anyone still has any hope of going to a pull at May Madness at least we have someone who will give us info now. More SOON. Betty

I have been holding off on posting more about the pulls because the sled company and the track owner had to coordinate and reach agreement with the dealership. The above post is pretty much where we are at this point. If anyone has an issue, let me know, and hopefully volunteer your time and expertise so YOUR activity goes as youi want. May madness is all about a group of volunteers getting together to keep this rally alive year after year, without the big dollar sponsorships that it enjoyed at first. We are fortunate that Don Trudeau is so involved in our rally.

Rocky Mountain Pullers Association Rules will be used.

Registration and tech will be held at the Nugget or Dodge Dealer (not sure yet)

Tech will probably be held from 3:00pm until 5:00pm at which time the trucks may leave for the track.

The $35. 00 registration fee will include the driver, ONE pit person and three pulls. Naturally, the driver will pick his best pull.

Don will advertise in the newspaper inviting locals to come and try to bump off the Dodges. It will be 1/2 page ad to run for two weeks preceding the event and will include a truck pull registration form.

The dirt drags will be run immediately following the pulls. The track will be lightly sprayed with water to keep dust down. There will be a power washer at the end of the track to clean off any dirty trucks if the owner wishes.

Can someone post a link to the Rocky Mountain Pullers rules for us? I know it isn't hard, but on the other hand I don't pull and haven't followed it much. Those who do will hopefully help out here. A couple years ago BBD tried to set up pulling at MM in Vegas and gave up in frustration. This time, in Pahrump, we have a track, a sled, and someone paying for the sled. The sled company recommended the RMP rules. so can everyone agree on that? How about showing some interest by pre-registering? It is also important that rules are decided upon--and I don't care what rules are used, so long as they are readily enforced and agreeable to most/all participants. Since Trudeau wants to invite locals to try to spank the Dodges, the rules should be broad and reasonable enough that whatever shows up can compete, maybe short of a D9N which would be hard for even you dedicated pullers to beat :D

hey joe thanks for the post rmpa doesnt have a websight yet we will try to get some rules posted soon so every one can prepare for the pull

I agree, the main thing is to go out and have fun and put on a show for the rest of the bunch. The people in the crowd don't know which group somebody is in. As long as we don't have exhaust parts and drivelines and flywheels flying into the crowd. I believe the stands were a farther away from the sled then most tracks, it should be safe for all.

its gonna be a late night if we have a lot of guys pull and then we do the dirt drag racing huh. Hey Joe, will they have the drag racing in LV or is that interfering with sled pulling? just curious

I've been pulling with Rock Mountain Pullers for over 3 years now. Yes their rules are a little vague. They will make a place for every one. They are not going to not let somebody pull because they don't have thousands of $$ worth of safety equipment. So come and pull and don't worrry about it. They usually have 3 diesel classses: Stock, modified and super modified.

Stock= intake and exhaust

Modified= anything more than intake and exhaust

Super Modified= Twins, etc

8,000 lbs, 26 inch hitch height, helmet, seatbelts, regular safe behavior.

Use of nitrous and or propane may be up for debate.

If I find out any changes I will let you know.

I talked to one of the Rocky Mountain Pullers presidency about the rules and he told me that They were going to let the May Madness decide on their own rules. They are just considering this as a "sled rental. " This is how they have done the Bully Dog show. RMPA provides the sled and crew and Bully Dog set their own rules, classes, etc. It was suggested that Joe should get a hold of Merv from Rocky Mountain and they can discuss this.

Then my vote would be lets use the Diesel Pulling Organization (DPO) rules.

Can we all agree on them and let Joe know? I don't think he knows much about the rules. Lets help him out so he can help us out :D

Chris, what happened to the street stock rules they don't open for me ?

BBD

OK, here's the deal:

If you come to MM to pull, you have a "vote" on the rules. If a consensus can be reached, so be it. I don't care what rules are used, so long as they can be readily enforced and are fair to those who show up to pull.

We won't be able to settle the matter of rules here with people who have not pre-registered and may or may not attend. Those who actually attend WILL have a say in setting up rules that are reasonable and fair for the attendees. I don't want anyone to think that after coming to MM, the rules will be stacked 'way against them. Neither do I want a vocal minority to set the rules now and then not come, when those who do come might not be happy with those rules at all.

That sounds like a good plan. If all works well then we can have it figured out for next year. Lets keep in mind this is a good show that keeps growing and maybe we can call this a trial year and keep things rollin'.

Joe--sounds good to me and as much as I'd like to vote for the DPO rules I may not be able to come after last weeks happenings with my wife--we are pretty sure she is going to have to have some surgery and we won't know when until the 21st of this month when that will happen---so I'm on the bubble for everything until we find out---chris

In my case, and probably many others, the rules are a major factor in if we attend or not. Some of us cannot afford to drive that distance, pay for a hotel, and put on drivline loops and air cut-off valves and whatever (I've already put over $5k into my truck so far this year). I don't mean to be a whiney-butt :{ , but I think the rules need to be pretty loose to get a lot of people to come and pull. Just my two pennies.
