Wising up would be using the available to anyone 5.0L Cummins V8...

Ford diesels like the 6.0 have given GM's 5.7 Oldsmobile Diesel a serious run for the worst diesel ever title. At lest you didn't have to take the cab off to change a 5.7 let alone do heads. :-laf

Maybe I set the bar too high for Ford?

Then you can wait longer, even over here they don't have good Diesel Engines.
And LandRover Diesels have too problems till today.
