Anyone still have one of these?

My sister had her 6 year old Mazda Millennium at her dealer recently and they told her the car had a cracked axle. They told her that it didn't need to be repaired immediately but that it would gradually get noisy and need to be fixed. They also said it was a common problem.

Does anyone know what the dealer is talking about? Car has 65,000 miles of light use. I can't believe that you could drive with a cracked axle! I can't check it myself as she lives in Myrtle Beach.

Maybe they meant that the rubber boot of the CV joint was cracked? Very common in front wheel drive cars, but far more common to GM than the usual imports...
When the boot cracks on a constant velocity joint/axle, it lets the grease leak out. Then it's only a matter of time.
