Drinking Turpentine?

... with 2. 0 liter engine and automatic.

Is there a fuel filter and if so where. Presume there is somethng in the tank, but another one, that is replaceable?

I am bit of a Mazda geek,and my wife has a 00 protege with the 1. 8 litre engine,but I can't say anything about a fuel filter. On all of my other mazda's there is a filter just in front of the frame mounted pump,but then again these are cars and trucks from the 70's and 80's with carbs and such. I will ask a friend of mine who is a parts manager for a mazda dealer ,and ask if he can find out for you. Why are you asking about a fuel filter on a newish car?By the way what year is it? i am guessing 01-03 right?01 was the 1st year for the 2. 0 litre I think. We will be trading in the ole Protege tomorrow on a new subaru forester. I am going to miss the Mazda. It has been the best car we have ever owned,but my wife wants a wagon,and the forester is hard to beat with awd and such. Good luck.

Thanks for the response Mazda Rotary!!! It is a 2002. Found out from doing a little internet searching that the 2. 0 has only a filter screen in the tank, and no other filter :rolleyes:. Guess the fuel sloshing around in the tank keeps the screen from clogging up :--)

Wonder if the wife will mind filtering the gas before it goes in the tank :-laf

Never mind know the answer to that one!!!!!!

Have you had fuel issues?I wonder if maybe you should try using another gas station?We have had zero problems with the 00 ES we have. It will be leaving tomorrow though because we got the call from the subaru dealer,our forester is in. Good luck,and Zoom-Zoom!!

04 RX-8-->Lots more fun

05 Subaru forester--> "hers"

No major fuel issues, except the car is new "to her", i. e. used. When purchasing a used vehicle I like to change all of the fluids, consumables, and then I know what the maintenance schedule is, therefore was just finding out what filters and where they are located.

Again thanks for your assistance.
