MBRP or Grand Rock Exhaust

I have an oppourtunity to buy either a Grand Rock or MBRP kit (4" aluminized) for the same price. Grand Rock uses band clamps instead of U clamps otherwise i'm not sure of any differences. Any preferences?

I'm not familiar with Grand Rock but I do have the 4" aluminized MBRP with double wall stainless tip. Before installation I cleaned then painted it with duplicolor high heat ceramic silver paint. I also replaced the U clamps with stainless band clamps from Summit Racing. Fit was excellent , price was reasonable and it sounds good!

Just say no too mbrp. I have a set of the duals on my 06 and fought and cussed the complete install. #@$%!



For the same price the Grand Rock is a better deal as those band clamps are dang near $10 a piece and after install you can remove them and the exhaust system just as installed, they do not compress the pipe.

i've never heard a Grand Rock kit, how do they sound? don't want it too quiet, still needs to sound like a diesel.

I've heard good things about Grand Rock kits. I, myself, have a 4" stainless MBRP kit. I think it sounds great, and the install was easy. Just like phloop was saying though, those u-clamps are junk. Trying to get pipes apart is almost impossible.

I have not have the Grand Rock system on my truck, however I have had an mbrp 4 inch dools and now a 5 inch alum. system. They both sounded great. With whatever system you get just make sure that you go to Napa or an autoparts store and get exhaust band clamps instead of the U-clamps if you ever what to get it back apart again.

My truck does not sound like it has a fart can on it, thank you very much. And it does drone a tad bit towing but no worse than other hot rod's I have owned.



And hey..... If it's too loud or bothersome, your too old.



And if the drone bothers you, just crank the tune's up. But if your old and bothered you never turn the volume up past 4, maybe 5 if your feeling frisky that day any way's. :-laf

I had the Grand rock 5" kit on, and the install was a breeze. Easier than the mbrp I had on before. There was no drone at all, sounded like it was straighted piped at idle, but had a great sound while driving. Sounded nothing like a ricer. You would be very pleased with it. The only downfall is their kit only comes in alunimum. I would have preferred SS

Corsa Performance Exhaust

I just installed the Corsa Performance cat-back exhaust on my '05.

The removal of the stock system was a major pain as the factory muffler shackle crimped the muffler pipe extremely well. After a little over an hour and a big hammer, the muffler finally came off.

The Corsa system installed in 20 minutes. The installation engineering is perfect, the build quality of the muffler, shackles, hangers and end tip are phenomenal. The best part is that this system is made of 304 stainless steel and will never rust one bit!

Some may say that this system is a bit pricy. Well, if you want to play and want the highest quality product out there, which you will never have to worry about ever again, you will pay for it.

Before going for the first drive, my decibel meter recorded 1 db less interior cabin noise than with the stock system at idle. During the drive I was amazed how quite the cabin was. The decibel meter recorded 1 to 1. 8db less than with the stock system.

Now - the sound level outside is a different story. driving through a tunnel (and rolling down the rear right window) the exhaust sound bouncing off the tunnel wall was tremendous - loud, rich and throaty! Absolutely AWESOME.

So far I have not towed with it or have had a chance to do a mpg check versus the stock system. That will come tomorrow during a long road trip to the east coast. Will keep you posted.

So far I am VERY HAPPY with this exhaust system and do not regret spending the money.

I have the MBRP aluminized 4" system on my truck. It's fine but the hanger on the downpipe breaks off every 4-6 months and I have to have it welded back together. The weld doesn't break, a piece approximately one inch square breaks off the pipe. Only complaint I have. In fairness to MBRP, when this first happened they sent me a new replacement down pipe at no cost, but this keeps happening. All hangers on the system are utilized.

Corsa Performance Exhaust System - Update

Made a 3500 mile round trip from Michigan to New England and back over Christmas.

This trip was without a trailer and just light cargo in the bed.

Cruise control was set right around 65mph most of the trip. Running ULSD winter diesel now, my average fuel economy was a respectable 19. 2 mpg for the entire trip.

As for cabin noise from the exhaust - based on "ear" measuring devise - it was same if not slightly quieter than the stock muffler. The item that was "louder" was the air intake sound from the Banks air box. The additional noise was the sound of the turbo spooling up, but no noticeable intake suction sound. This increased turbo spooling sound was not obtrusive or annoying though.

I have only had a brief opportunity to pull my trailer with the new intake and exhaust (only 40 miles round trip on back roads at speeds below 60mph). There was an increase in turbo spool sound but absolutely no exhaust drone. It was as quite in the cabin as the stock muffler.

The crew at Corsa did its homework on this muffler. Many here have complained that this system is the most expensive one out there. Well, if you want real engineering (sound engineering is not cheap), perfect fitment and the best quality materials out there, its going to cost. If you want to go cheep, well, then don’t complain poor fitment, mediocre product quality or the droning the modified glasspack can give you. Ear plugs are always a good remedy for that last one.

I extremely pleased with my purchase and strongly recommend this system to anyone!

I wonder about Stan's system. They claim to use Donaldson mufflers- real truck stuff. I wouldn't mind sounding like the FedEx truck! That Corsa does look nice... .
