Since my tail pipe is ready to fall off I'm looking at QUIET 4" systems. I like the ones that use Donaldson muffs but the guy at DDP is trying to sell me on the MBRP system with the "quiet" muffler. I din't know they made such a thing and kinda wonder if he's just trying to make a sale.
Can anybody say for sure that one is as quiet as the other?

Thanks,
Scott

I have been more than happy with the fit, finish, quality, and sound of the MBRP systems. I had a turbo back system on my former '01 and have a MBRP installed cat back on the '04.5 and a Silverline, which is identical to the MBRP, cat back on the '07. Nothing but good things to say.

Serious Disclamer: I am hard of hearing in one ear, so what doesn't sound loud to me may be different than what you hear. But, with that said, I have no issue with how the standard MBRP systems sound. I don't find them loud in the cab and I have never had a passenger complain about the sound/noise level.

I have a MBRP but not sure wich one as i have just bought the truck. Its loud at one certain point in the power band but not bad. I like the sound

I am using a TBE from MBRP with a muffler on my 08; but the system is somewhat nosier then the stock truck was. But I had three in line filters plus the resonator with the stock exhaust; did not sound like a diesel truck when new. I am happy with the MBRP system oh BTW it is a 5"TBE with a 6" tip.

I would be surprised if the MBRP was as quiet as a Donaldson...but I prefer the louder tone of my MBRP.

A Donaldson 51" is not quiet, has a drone at approx. 60-65 mph other than that not to bad had one. Now have a Shuttleworth D13-7885 it is a replacement muffler same configuration as the oem hangers etc, 4" in and out is quiet at all speeds sounds real nice at the end of tail pipe, turbo even spools faster. made in London Ont. Canada There is a head pipe from Diamond Eye with a resonator in front of it, put that in to see if could make Donaldson quiet, didn't do that. Did this last fall muffler cost $190.00 back then. Thanks for the input all. Still trying to decide but I guess I should hurry - just noticed a big hole and it looks like the rear mount is loose.

I replaced my system with MBRP and HATED the sound. I then found out after calling them, they have a "quiet" muffler which is not offered in their turbo back system (go figure) so I had to spend an addition $$$$ to get the quiet muffler which i installed in front of the noisy one. It's barely acceptable for noise. Real noisy under load while accelerating.

I ended up putting on a 4" SS system with a 38" Donaldson. It's surprisingly quiet and is just a bit louder at idle but what you hear is very low pitched - it kind of sounds like a big block V8 with a Borla exhaust.
At any higher RPM's it sounds stock.

We put an MBRP on my co workers 06 Mega Cab. I find it too loud and I don't like the "ring" the S/S has to it. So far my stock 03 system is still good and when I do upgrade it it will have to be quiet as well. David
