I noticed in your signature that you have a 2005 4x4 auto (like me), and you're running a Jacobs E-Brake. When I asked my Dodge tech about adding it on, he told me that it would destroy my 48RE over time. When the 2006's came out, I asked him if they could reprogram the ECM to do whatever the 2006 auto does to accept the Jacobs E-Brake. He told me that Federal standards wouldn't allow for that. How did you get yours to work?

Sorry to all of those that have been trying to get a hold of me on PM's been a little busy looking for a job... Anyhow yes I do have it on my 05 and no it is not warantied or anything else for that matter. I am not a novice at the Automatics anymore and I am quite capable of knowing when lockup has occured so I just have it wired up manually for the time being, I will be adding a pacbrake foot switch kit when I get the money so that at least I can controll it with my foot instead of the switch on the colum. It works great and other than a relay problem that I am having in hot temperatures I am happy. The transmission is the same on the 05 and 06 it is all programming to make sure that no damage is being done but since I can tell when lockup occurs I am not worried about it. I looked at the ATS controller but those people are insane for what they want for that controller that cost about$75 to build... I also am thinking about going with another DTT controller as I was happy with the one in my 01 just have not found out if they have one for the 05 yet... On the same token I may not have the 05 all that much longer as there is a guy who wants to buy it BAD and for what rediculous number I quoted him to go away he said he may do it so I may have an 06 soon enough lol... .

It is to bad we need to wait 7 years or 100,000 miles to put something on to make your truck safer to tow with. I for one would not wait but I can see your concern. Still one of the best things I have ever done to my truck was the e brake.

I could have sworn that it was an engine thrust bearing issue, not transmission. /But I could be wrong.

MCrossley,

What is the minor relay problem you mentioned? My Pakbrake relay occasionally sticks and the compressor keeps running until I open the hood and tap the relay. It is definitely not warm up here. I am on my 3rd relay in 7 months.

I have the Jacobs brake and it seems the relay is pretty flakey it performs better when cold (whihc is odd) I thought maybe the switch but it seems about every 10th time you operate it that it does not want to pull over completly. I have not dealt with it as of yet...

for those that want a brake but are worried about the transmission... why don't you just wire it with a switch and forget the floor micro switch and mount the switch close to you for on/off operation. . ??

as Blair said I would not be without one , especially while towing. I believe brake jobs would pay for it if you keep your rig for a long time. . my first set of front pads went 120K and I live in the mountains. rears are still in use at 135K with a ton left on them

my micro switch kept getting dirty on the foot pedal so I wired it as a on/off switch to my shift lever on off switch for the brake [I'm 6 speed so wouldn't work for all] ala a 2 speed axel switch... IMHO would work for the auto guys also and be 100% on/off as needed... thanks to Blair and Mike for many of the installs and wiring on my rig.
