It finally snowed enough to have some fun. 7" from monday night to last night. The wind got blowin last night so things started to pile up. Last night I was playn around and saw some flashing lights...
There was a snow plow stuck off the side of US231 with a car stuck infront of it. The plow truck was trying to drag the snow away from the car so it could back out. Well, plows only work one way. He got stuck on the first try. I wasnt gonna pull him out because i had only a little chain, and he wouldnt pay me. He had another plow on the way. I pulled the car out easily. I came back down this strip of highway half hour later to find the same plow now stuck 3/4 mile down the road on the other side of the road, and the other plow couldnt get it out. Since the road was all ice, I didnt feel like wasteing my time.
OK, today I found a grand cherokee trying to flatten a 4' snow bank. It looked as if he was going about 40 or so and was having fun and almost recovered it but he was in the bank and screwed. Also, this road is only 1 lane wide between the difts. So I chain up to him. . and leave 12 big diviots in the gravel road. I tried 3 times moving after each time. I then dug snow out from under it to the frame on both sides, and then i was able to yank it out after a few more tries and a few more sets of diviots.
Then I found a grannie in a saturn stuck in a drift. I tell her ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS STEER. DO NOT PUT IT IN REVERSE. Well, that didnt work, after I got her out, I stopped, and she didnt. She now needs one new tail light and a new truck lid. She must not have seen my reese drawbar with a BIG clevis on it. No damage to me.
Then I had a chevy 2500 4x4 with a plow on the front get over so I could turn onto a road. Well, he didnt see how fast the shoulder ended. He slid sideways down a hill a few feet and stopped. I Pulled along side of him. I asked "Are ya stuck?" He said yes, then I asked "Do you want pulled out?" He again said yes. So I pulled him out, no sweat.
By this time, I had ran across a friend and we were both out playin around. He tries running over a snowplow bank in 2x4. That little old F150 didnt have the balls to do that. And it couldnt do it in 4x4 either. I had to jerk him a little to get him out.
Then we ran across one more guy stuck. I decided not to mess with it. It was a semi with a full load of hogs. Their john deere FWA dually had to try really hard to get it out.
All in all this was a fun first and last good snow of the season. BTW I did not get stuck.
