I have always had a question about the relationship between Foot pounds of torque and inch pounds of torque. What is the conversion equation? Is it 12"X12"=1 Ft. LB or 12"X12"X12" = 1 Ft. LB ? Or am I all wet
? How many inch pounds in a foot pound? And how do you convert, say, 7 foot pounds of torque into inch pounds of torque? Before it was academic, now I need this info to properly install a main bearing seal retainer, knowing that adjustable torque wrenches usually work best in the midrange of their adjustments. Not at the extreme outside edges of their range. If anyone could shed some light on this, I would be very grateful. "Inquiring minds need to know"
