What is inside your truck ?

Does anyone know where I could find info about the apprentice and journeyman technician "challenge tests"?

Specifically, I would like copies of these exams to study from.

Here in Canada, if one has enough working hours as a mechanic, one does not have to go to school, one can just challenge the test, if you pass, your a mechanic. You are allowed to challenge all tests from first year apprentice to journeyman technician.

I would like to do this but first I'd like to have a good idea of what is asked on these exams. I've been pulling wrenches for years but to demand the higher pay I need papers. Even an American test would suffice.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

In Canada you need to be certified to just get a Mechanics job? Please tell me more! I can't wait for that to happen in the USA so our trade will be respected like other trades such as Electricians and Plumbers, etc.

As far as Test preperation, these people http://www.passbooks.com/

have the book you want. It is used to study for civil service exams (my job) and to prepare for ASE certifications. Good luck, and Happy New Year!

job

Thanks for the info Wayne.

Well no you don't have to be certified to get a job, but to make the bigger bucks everybody wants to see the papers. And 99. 9% of any "big three" dealer, or any name brand dealer wants certification due to warranty and insurance issues. Any job with a future needs the papers.

Thanks again and Happy New Year to ya down in Staten Island

Hey, with one of those books I could become a certified dentist, knew that those two drawers of pliers in my tool box would come in handy some day.
