Stupid question about Amps

tire pressure

Have 06 3500 Mega 4x4 and want to reuse my Pullrite Super 5th 20. 5. Do not want to spend the $$ on Pullrite Superglide.

Found a king pin extender, RV5, 10" that looks good. The cost is $ 434 shipped. This should get the king pin 10" further to the rear which should help with clearances.

Anybody with any experience with this ? This my 1st Dodge and short bed so it's all new to me.

Thanks for any help.

Cliff

I would talk to the RV manufacture first, I know some (Titanium) don't like having extended pin's installed because they add stress to the RV frame if not its designed for an extended pin box.

They RV manufacture can take 3 approaches to this.

1) Just plan say NO because they don't want to take a chance with John, Q. Public changing anything and holding them responsible.

2) Not answer at all.

3) Tell you everything you could want to know.

But it don't hurt to ask first.

Another option is, the Sidewinder by Quest Technologies (maker of the 5th Airborne) which will be on the market soon. The sidewinder pivots at the king pin, not the hitch. There is a device on the Sidewinder that prevents it from pvoiting at the hitch.

I've read more than once that the pin extenders are not usually advised - they add a tremendous amount of stress to the structure of the trailer. Towing with a short bed can be a PITA, but I personally would not go with one of the extenders. Good luck.
