Iam interested in purchasing a Mega Cab 3500 4x4 SRW and have some questions concerning year to year model changes.

What is the cut-off date for 2006 orders?

When does DC announce the 2007 / 2007. 5 model changes?

Does the emission standards for 2007 / 2007. 5 require mods for the engine?

1, Usually May

2, Usually Sept

3. Yes and emission testing

3. Yes and emission testing

Does this mean that 2007 emission diesel standards will start having testing similar to the smog testing for registration in CA?

If so, seems like the Engine mods(aftermarket) for the years to come would be in jeopardy for soot/particulate levels.

We've had diesel emissions testing in Vegas for 2 years on anything 2500 and under (even TDIs).

A little off topic but, has anyone else noticed that we are almost at the $3 a gallon mark for diesel again? Anyone know what the lates reason is? Sinking ship? Crack in pipeline? Oil executives want a new 10,000 sq ft home?

I believe the 07. 5 will have less power due to the new federal emissions. We've had diesel emissions here for quite awhile. It's county by county though.

heard things about Dave Smith, but I ended up locally hard to argue with invoice and not drive 400 miles.

Since you are in Northern Calif (Grass Valley), It is a 5 hour drive to Grants Pass Oregon, where you CAN get the same deal as Dave Smith. I did and did it twice! My 04 and my 04. 5 were both within a few hundred bucks of Dave Smith. I might also mention that back when I did buy from Dave Smith, most ofthe trucks that they order and stock do NOT have a few of the options that you really would need. Limited slip was a real biggie to me. As per the Smith salesman I had, he claims that they NEVER order a truck for inventory with limited slip. Now, my deal with Lithia was fantastic. I took in the P/O from Smith, they did a lot search and had my o4 in stock and I bought that day. As for my 04. 5, they did a search and it was found 140 miles away and I took delivery the next day. I might add that the 04. 5 was a few hundred less than the one I could have bought from Smith. Just a little food for thought. I ws treated very well at Lithia Dodge in Grants Pass. You can also deal with them via internet and have your truck waiting. Good luck. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention. Its a beautiful drive from Grass Valley to Oregon. Unlike the one from Kellogg back to Calif!
