Megacab Shortbed length

I have seen some people say that the bed on a Megacab is shorter in several posts so I wanted to clear this up. The bed on a 2006 Megacab is NOT shorter than the shortbed on a quadcab.



It is the same shortbox that Dodge has used since introducing the 3rd gen. My cap from my 04 went right on the 06.

How did Dodge address the difference in the rear overhang between the QC long bed frame and the short bed box? It seems like some changes to the frame would have been required to make it fit.

The rear overhang on a QC LWB is 47. 9".

The rear overhang on a QC SWB is 48".

The rear overhang on a MC is 48"



The long bed QC gets the extra 2ft of bed space in front of the rear axle, not behind it.



The MC uses the QC LWB frame, other than some minor chages including bed mounts, fuel tank mounts etc.
