When I joined TDR, my understanding was that this forum was used by Dodge enthusiasts to inform members of experiences and problem solving connected with our Dodge trucks.

There seems to have been a change in focus in the last few months. Some individuals appear to have become the absolute authority on many subjects or products. They downplay the problems and objections of others without offering a solution, but chastise others for having a contradictory opinion.

The straw that broke the camel's back was Barry G. 's comment on member fuel sender solutions on Centroid products fuel sender use. Barry reports that TDR members have done this conversion with no problems, while a few others cited troubles, which he thinks may be installation related, rather than product related.

This says to me that... after two (2) Centroid senders in a 6 month period, numerous emails back and forth to the manufacturer with 7 or 8 times of dropping the fuel tank for adjustment and readings... it is entirely my fault and not the fault of, or a malfunction of the Centroid unit.

Why should I post my problems and experiences when only Barry's count? I have other things to do in my life than waste my time with this website... there are several others to choose from.

This is my last 2 cents worth.

I for one found your posts on the Centroid fuel sender to be VERY useful and informative. From the information I have gathered thus far, this fuel sender still has issues that need to be worked out pertaining to reliability enough for me to hold off considering purchase of this system until these issues are worked out.

Dropping the fuel tank is ROYAL PITA. If I am going to install a product that requires the dropping of the fuel tank, it had BETTER be well engineered and reliable enough for me to have to do this ONE TIME or I am NOT gonna buy it.

DSHORE:

I was starting to PM you about this post but perhaps I have unintentially offended more than yourself. So maybe it is better to do this publicly and take all my whacks so I cut and pasted it here instead.

DSHORE (and anyone else I may have offended)

While we have not necessarily seen eye to eye on this particluar issue I certainly understand your view on the sender due to your experiences with it. And to be honest I cringed when I read the article last week and saw what it said. Please understand it was not my intention to be an expert or anything else on this matter. It was just to offer an option. I got the idea to do it from other members who also had done it with no problems. My installation went just as I wrote it up on the forum and it still works great. I four wheel in the mountains here, the western slope and in Utah as well and still have had no problems with it. Do I understand what is up with yours no I dont.

As far as the article I was reading the TDR Magazine a couple issues ago, same column and Jim asked the membership for other solutions to the sending unit. I sent him an email about the centroid he did not print the whole email. I did mention that some have had problems with it with you specifically in mind due to your efforts with it. I did in fact as the article suggests say that some issues were due to improper installation. And to keep my feet out of my mouth I will not cite specific examples. I thought I made the distinction in my email to Jim and perhaps it was not as distinct as I am thinking. However I no longer have that email to refer to and even if I did it would not matter.

Be that as it may whatever I wrote obviously came out wrong for one reason or another. I sincerely apologize for offending you or anyone else in regards to this as that was certainly not my intention nor was my intention to be thought of as an expert.

Sincerely,

Barry Gallagher
