Does Methaol injection work as advertised by cooling EGTs 200 degrees? Any and all coments appreciated. Thanks 04. 5 600 w/ 1400 degrees EGTs.

Yes. I will be installing a system on my truck someday soon for the egt and power benefits. On DTR's site in the pulling/competition section, you can get alot of info from guys who use water/meth injection.

You really need to check the meth thing out closely. The Meth is very corrosive to turbo blades. What I've been told is that if it's used conservatively then your ok but not good if your using it on a frequent basis. You can use the water frequently with no adverse problem, or so I've been told. Personally I'm probably going to get that SNOW kit but I'm going to use it for the drags only with the meth. Maybe some others with first hand knowledge will chime in.

Water alone will cool quite well but Methanol does help a little more(whatever mixture) it a two fold thing for me... . EGT's and Power. I've seen two trucks now that have run it for extended periods of time without issues, a 2nd gen that finally let the head gasket go after 1. 5 years... ... . head was out . 010 from flat, and mine with a new short block last winter, just keep in mind that if you mix water/meth real strong that your playing with fire when adding timing via box or manually, the 3rd gens don't seem to have the headgasket issues that the others do though!

BOTW, I've been running Matt's system for 2 years now! Dynoed Saturday with a 57 HP gain..... about normal for my truck!

I'm considering this as well. Towing up here at high elevations, I just can't get the EGTs cool enough unless I just keep backing out of the throttle. How does the Snow setup work? Is it automatic or do you turn it on when you need it or what? I'm concerned about long term effects too. Any and all information is appreciated.

Had the Reflash done about a year ago, didn"t improve much. Why doesnt DC have a lot of burned Pistons during the Warranty period. I was never concerned when DC owned the truck but since I put an EGT gauge and the warranty is gone theres a big differance. How hot did I have it pulling these mtns with my trailer and hammer down to see how well it would run. Wonder if the 05s are the same.

Richy, i believe the answer to your question would be the gallery cooled pistons, and all the other improvements made to your engine when they went to the 600lb/ft, most people with bone stock 600's and 610's report high egt like you are seeing. Cummins did make the necessary changes to enable the engine to run at these high of egt's safely.
