Hey everybody, Im looking at a 99' reg. cab 5spd 4x4 for sale in NY. ive read alot about the 53 blocks and so on, and its to my understanding that the mexican blocks were built heavier than the brazillian blocks. i took the vin and ran it through carfax and it indicates that the truck was manufactured in Mexico. i guess what im asking is, would this truck be void of a 53 block since it was built in mexico or is it still possible to have a 53?

thanks!

Matt

Mine was assembled in Mexico and no 53 block engine. That is only an example though. It is still possible for a 53 to have been put in a Mexico assembled truck. If you are close enough to check that engine, slide under the front... driver's side... . at the front on that side of the engine just above the pan you will find some numbers. If it's a 53 you will know right away. The 53 will stand out. Would be inch or inch and a half in size. Good Luck.
