Googled "ULSD Mexico". Looks like they will phase in to 100% 15ppm ULSD by 2008. Until then the 6. 7's will need to look for a station that has ULSD or add tank capacity.

Thanks guys, have a friend looking to buy new, said he goes to mex alot I suggested used so he doesn't have to worry about it.

didn't think to google, thanks

I went through Les McDaniel @ Dave Smith Motors. Great guy. They may have some new ones left. They have a huge inventory. Getting a Ca certified one is the trick whomever you go to.

A little off topic, but if someone moved to CA with a standard truck, would they just not let him register it?

I left CA in 92 so a lot of time for new laws , it use to be a fee to reg. an out of state car / truck , but back then the diesels were exempt from smog test , I'm posting because I was going back for a few mths .

Out of Calif truck registration

Not a problem on a truck you have owned for a while, just can't go out and buy a non-CA certified NEW truck. I bought my truck in Montana in 2003 when the HO was not 'legal' in California. Returned to California a year later and had no trouble regestering in California. I 'think' it had to have at least 6K miles on it.

Mexico ULSD?

With Mexico's antiquated fuel storage tanks formally containing high sulfur diesel,it'll be interesting to see what the flushing action of ULSD will have on their delivery systems.

Double check whether the ones you look at are CA certified. When I started looking in early 06 to buy mine (trying to decide if I should/could and what model to get) I noticed

the ones in Ca all said "CA SMOG" on the sticker. I ended up ordering from a Phoenix dealer anyway; cheaper and it was registered in AZ at our soon to be retirement home. He said it would be CA certified anyway (free), but when it came it made no mention on the sticker. Later, while playing with my ACTRON engine analyser, I noticed that under the specs for "emissions version" it said "CA",

so apparently it came through that way without a separate line on the sticker.

It was built in MAY 06.

Like someone else said, if you buy one with at least 7500 miles on it you can bring it in no problem. I'm not sure about buying with less than that and driving it around until 7500 miles; they might bust you when they see paperwork with the sold mileage on it less than 7500.

I just purchased a 07 5. 9 Mega Cab 4x4 in Utah. I spoke with a friend at the DMV, the california laws have changed Diesels are exempt from the 7500 mile rule. you just have to get a weight cert, VIn Verification, Pay Sales Tax, and it can be registered.

Very very simple mine was done all in one day
