Just picked up a 7. 5' Meyer Plow for my truck. Didnt know where to post this, so I posted it here, if its the wrong area, mods please feel free to move it.

Anyway, its a 7. 5' Meyer Aggressor plow with the Ez-mount Express. It also has the E-88 contol module and all the goodies! I am excited to get this puppy hooked up on the ol' gal, and am hoping that the mounting system will clear my bumper! Its going to be close, but I am still a little worried. Might have to make some modifications to make it all fit together.

Have any of you had experiance with Meyer plows? Or this exact unit? I am not going to be using it often, just to clear my driveway and my dads from time to time. A little overkill for my use, but I think I got a good deal on it.

Its a brand new plow, never been installed (was won at the Vikings Arctic Blast event last year by a friend of mine. ) I traded him the 12v Cummins engine and goodies for it. The engine needed to be machined and rebuilt and I had 1400 into it when I bought it. So, I think I got a good deal.

If any of you have installed one of these and am willing to maybe help a fellow TDR member out on saturday to get this puppy mounted, let me know, cuz I dont think the snow is that far away, and I would love some help!

BTW, this is what it looks like...

moved here from the "Other" forum. I thought that it would get better exposure here.

You got a deal then, its a nice plow, Meyer is a good product, clean mounts you dont have the plow hooked up. The only problem with my 7-5" meyer is that my CTD has too much torque and instead of the blade pushing thru a pile it just goes up and over so I have to scrape some piles 2 times.

Western is a nice brand, heavy duty, stout and have the recoil shock which is NICE!! (had a 7'5" pro on my 95)

Boss is the way to go, straight or V. HEAVY STRONG and have a FAST hookup as well has hyd speed!!! the V plows are cats meow!!!!! Ive ran ALOT of them

Curtis, hinker, blizzard all are OK for a homeowner and a 1500 truck but wont last very long.

***put a FUME FLAP on that plow!!!! (rubber flap at the top of the plow) this will keep the snow off our hood and windshield going down a long drive or plowing powder snow.

I have a truck/plow pic in my gallery.

I was going for a boss but picked up my current plow for 1000. 00 and it was used 3 times (since I plowed the factorys parking lot).

Install are a breeze on the trucks, bolt on and run your wires then your ready to go!! place the control unit on the left of your steeringwheel. This way you can control the plow and shift gears.

If you don't have the joystick controller, get one. Then you can mount it on the shifter, run it with 2 fingers. I had one on my '91 S10, best controls I ever had, and I've plowed with most of them.

IC, check your blade, the cutting edge must be 90* to the ground, if it is tipping back, it will fold over easy. Also, if there is a burr on the front edge of the cutting edge, grind it off, it works better.

We had our first 2 " of snow this morning, it's all down hill from now on! :{

my blade is set right, the blade just isnt heavy enough to move some types of piles and I have to push over the pile, back up and push it again. my Western had 4 springs, my meyer only has 3

I cant wait for winter woohoo It snowed lastnight but no accumilation just a dusting and some icey roads that made a mess of traffic!!

Ian

Thanks guys, I thought I got a good deal as well... . again, no its just a matter if I can get it to clear my custom bumper without to much issues.

Any of you run a plow with a lifted truck? I have a 4. 5" lift and 35's

I have both a meyer and western. . i have newer western mintute mount style for a second gen here its 8 ft and single joys stick. . and two older meyers 7. 5 foot and a 8 foot. I am using the 8' meyer on my new '92 truck as the western mintute mount is REAL heavy compared to the meyer. . I have put teh meyer in the back of my pickup by myself once in a pinch by standing it on the side edge. . I don't think I could do that on the western . The western has beeter hydralics and more speed but the meyer is real simple twopins and a chain. . i don't like minute mounts with 4 pins plus a jack stand etc they are too heavy to monkey with in a hurry etc... i like the old style three stick meyers controls too. lights plow or truck, left right and up down. . the joy stick kinda gets funky doing pile / berm shaping at least for me. . may be I'll try to use the western hydraulic pump piston on my truck and the meyers controls. . etc.

Both meyers and western are plow trip not edge trip . . i hate edge trip plows argh. .

later

Dude where did you find a deal like that for a plow? Hopefully it clears your bumper. By the way I had to rewire the mirrors to work on my truck but they look 1000x better than the stock metal ones.

I dont know, but he lost some of the parts to it... :p Maybe you could kick his *** for me?? :-laf

Looks like it will clear the bumper! I got the brackets today, and bolted them up, and I seriously hav 1/4" between the bracket and the bumper! I havent put on the mount/brushgaurd yet, but tomorrow night hopefully it will be all bolted up. I gotta get a 7/8" drill bit tomorrow so I can drill one of the mounting holes (all were in the frame but one).

Hey, you didnt happen to keep the pig tails did ya? if you didnt use the connectors, let me know, I could use them for when I swap to the 3rd gen powered heads.

oh, hey cort, did you get the snow deflector when you got it? it wasnt with the other stuff, so i was just wondering if you got one or not? Also, I am guessing you didnt get the corner markers either?

Its Mounted!

Got the plow mounted up today! Took me about 6 hours total to get it all hooked up over the past few days. Got a couple things I still need to get but over all, its done, its a pretty sweet plow! I think I am going to need to adjust the angle some how though due to my lift. . :( BUT... I am thinking maybe if I cut the stops back an inch or two, that might help (1) but my only concern on that is if I will have enough adjustment left for the break away springs. (2) What ya think?

what it looks like head on! I cant believe it, but it fit PERFECTLY around my bumper Kyle built! I still cant believe it cleared it! All I had to remove was the D-rings.

It looks good, nice truck!

I think you need to lower the plow some though. The A-frame needs to be parallel to the ground. When you push heavy stuff the angle will raise the front of the truck, losing traction. You can weld tabs on the A-frame, or build brackets to lower the mount point. Most plows you see are level. My . 03 from 18 yrs experience. ;)

Yeah, I am not quite sure what to do yet. Not a welder, or fabricator, and dont really want to spend the money to modify it, but well see. Its mainly for my driveway and my parents. Not going to be doing anything commercial with it, yet anyways.

If you post some pictures of how it mounts to the frame, maybe we can come up with some simple ideas to drop it.

I have an old beat up 7-1/2' meyer I'd like to put on my Ram, but $1,000 for the mounting brackets and frame is too much!

lowering it on the frame aint going to happen, I need the clearance! Might have to do some creative fabricating on the plow frame. You dont happen to have the flap that goes aross the top of the blade do you? Looking for one and Meyer wants a ton of money for it...

What do ya'll think of this to fix my approach angle issue...

Basicly, welding an additional rectangle piece of tubing to the top of the existing "halo" and then mounting the mounting frame to that tubing. Basicly, it will drop the halo at least 3" lower, which would help a lot I would think.

also, thought you might like to see how close the mounting frame came to my bumper! Also, a shot of the remote, and what it looks like with the plow dismounted...
