Where to get pullrite hitch at a reasonable price?

flat towing a NV4500

I will be making a run from lower Michigan to Texarkana, TX next weekend. We will be leaving on Sunday Jan 30 and returning the very next morning. I will be running empty on the trip down. If anyone has something that needs to go to TX or someplace along the way, let me know ASAP. Any contributions towards the fuel tank are gladly accepted. We are on a pretty tight schedule though. We must be at the loading dock at 7am Monday morning empty and ready to load. We should arrive in Texarkana about midnight to 2am... Just figured I would throw it out there if anyone needs something moved. I will have a tri-axle enclosed car trailer...

This is the route we will most likely be taking. However, we could swing down thru Indiana on I-69 to Indianapolis.

<grin> I'm only half joking... . </grin> If you need another driver, pick me up in Chicago on the way by!

Sounds like what a friend and I call Insanity Runs. Last one was One Lap of Lake Michigan. 940 miles, 22 hours, selling spare Jeep parts, stopping at a barn dance and seeing blown over rafters on my folk's new house.

No kidding! I am hoping for a few hour reprieve from this crap they call winter... I just blew 12"+ off the driveway and it is still snowing like crazy.

Sounds like us... The guy riding/driving with me is a huge jeep parts guy. We are actually picking up a load of 16. 5" HMMWV tires and rims to part out. You may know the guy running with me. Matt goes by MIJeepman usually on the Jeep boards. Check out www.americanjeepers.com if you get a chance. The Michigan board was the first one, then it branched out from there...

Cool, you've got 2 drivers. No sweat there.

Don't know Matt. Most of my time in MI was/is north east of Traverse City, where I grew up.

Actually... ... the run back from Moab last fall was a trip. Straight through from Moab to Crown Point, IN, back to my place west of Chicago in under 24 hours. Just under 1,400 miles.

Anyway, have a good trip, and keep the wheels down.

My very soon to be wife and I are thinking about heading to Moab this September as our "honeymoon. " She has an '04 Rubicon she wants to get up on 33's or so. I just hope to have my ZJ running again by then... I have a nice set of Currie hi-pinion 9" axles to get under it, but I want to wait until I get the long arms and do it all at once...

Nice XJ by the way.

Sounds like your ZJ is gonna be a monster. A few guys in the club (NAXJA) have 9s under the rear end. Long arms? BIG debate on those.

Unfortunately, the XJ above isn't mine. I'm between jobs right now, and if I break my XJ, I can't afford to fix it. So, it sits. 2 weeks before the annual club run last October in Moab, the gent who owns that XJ asked for somebody with a tow rig to make the run, he pays fuel. Can't turn that one down. Rode in the passenger seat, and shot 2 2/3 gigabytes of digital pictures over 5 days of wheeling. Anyway, mine is a 94 2dr 5spd on 6" of lift and 33x12. 50 MT/Rs.

Moab in September should be pretty nice, the crowds will have thinned out and the weather will be cooling off. First full week in October has been awesome for the last 4 years.

I totally understand. I have an 8. 8 under the rear of it now. At the Badlands this summer I spun a tube in it, destroyed a lower rear control arm, exploded the 8. 8 flange adapter, and lost a front axle shaft u-joint. Then I lost my job! So, it is sitting behind the house for a while. I may skip the LA's for now and just get the 9" axle bracketry welded up so I can at least install the axles and be able to wheel a little. I went to a set of 36" bias ply IROKS on 4. 5" Re springs and a 2" BB last spring, and it is just too much on the short arms. I should have stuck with the 35's and just the 4. 5" springs...

If you ever need an additional tow rig, let me know. I have a 37' Take-3 gooseneck for "hire. " As long as I spend nothing out of pocket and get to ride shotgun, I'm in... I'm just 4 hours from Chicago as well. I may be able to squeeze 3 TJ's on there, but I have to figure that out for sure.

Later,

Brad

Yup, the 8. 8s are known to spin the tubes. You aren't the first and you sure won't be the last. Watched a friend of mine weld up his in the Slick Rock Campground in Moab a couple of years ago. Fortunately, he caught it before it caused him serious trouble.

As far as other stuff goes, I'd say check http://www.gljt.org (Great Lakes Jeep Thing) and the Midwest Chapter at http://www.naxja.org, both clubs hit the Badlands on a pretty regular basis.

FTM, are you a member of the North American Grand Cherokee Assocation (http://www.nagca.com)?

I have the tube spun back around finally. Just need to stitch weld it in place. Kinda mad that the guy that built it did not do this to start with... Live and learn I guess. I had a buddy weld the control arm to the right length, so I should be able to get it moving again soon. I even had a spare flange adaptor for the 8. 8 sitting in the garage.

I hang out on NAGCA some and in the speed freaks forum on JU. Mostly I hang on the Michigan Jeepers site though.

Where are you in Pittsford? I get down there once in a while dropping off or picking up the little guy at his dad's place just north of town.
