I would like to put Michelin LT285/60R20 Defender LTX M/S tires on my 2014 3500 SRW truck using the stock 20" factory wheels.
Hope it's not a stupid question but tire sites say they won't fit.

I think the tire sites say that if it's not the size they came with from the factory. I don't think it would be a problem. Just slightly wider than the 275's which I assume were your factory tires.

Factory size is LT285/60R20 E
I thought about 275's but I want to stay at factory size.
I think as I've looked into it further it has to do with width of rim, 8" vs 10"?

What tire sites state that they won't fit?

Rim width shouldn't be an issue with stock tire size, especially since the Michelin website states 8-10" rims and the OEM rims are 8".

Costco lists the defender as compatible.

Yes you're correct. Spoke to Discount today they said there was a shortage on that size for a while so wouldn't show up for fitting the truck. Tire Rack literally said they wouldn't fit.

Tire rack doesn’t seem to list the OEM size as an option for the Michelin defender, so maybe they are our of stock?

Well I bought a set. I liked them on an '03 Ram diesel work truck I had, so decided to get some for the 2014.
Hope they do the job. Date codes are 1st and 2nd month of 2022. My plan is to use them in the winter months on a separate set of wheels and then switch over to Cooper's in warmer weather.
