Clark,I wonder if the twisty nature of Hwy 1 is contributing to the wear?
Michelin could sell all the 285-75-17 E rated tires they could manufacture.
No smoking for me HB... :-laf:-laf
The LTX/AT2 in my opinion is an EXCELLENT tire.
I agree, excellent tire. Good snow/ice too...
In retrospect, The heavy ribs that seem to part of the carcass are coming up pretty qiuck. Next time around I'm going to really check my choices. They run smooth though.
So how many miles on your LTX-AT2's ??
I haven't put my tread depth gauge in it yet, but just casual looking dosen't look reassuring @ 20K. My driving cycle has changed big time- much more local driving. I really doubt I'll get the service I got out of the first set. Those ribs kill the deal.
I damaged one rear tire, and had to replace very recently, so I do have something to go by. I'll do a comparison ASAP.
Scotty,
how are your AT2's holding up in terms of wear??
Of those two, only BFG offers an E-rated 285-70-17. Michelin doesn't seem to want to get involved w/oversized E rated Lt tires. I'm sold on Toyos.I think mine are holding up excellent. Here is a picture I just went outside and took. 51K (almost 52K) miles on them. That is a penny in there for reference. I measured the tread depth and the worst I came up with . 295". That is still over a solid 1/4" of tread. I am not saying they aren't worn, but I believe I still have alot of useable miles left in them. They still grip the road well in wet and slimy conditions. I am hoping they are still decent enough to make it through a Winter without major drama. I am headed to Oregon for an elk hunt on Friday, so if I need more traction, I will just chain up.

I love the tires. The only thing I might do different, is go to a 285 sized AT2 or BFG AT next time. I can't see getting much better performance out of any tire. The original BFG's and Toyo's were very much done at 35K. . These are still looking good and performing well. I would say I should finish out around 70K before they are totally shot or just not useful to me. Scotty
The AT2's are discontinued? Scotty
