Hi all just wanted to update everyone who is using the Michelin LTX MS/2 tires on their trucks.

I just had two tires replaced do to a side wall defect found when the tires were being rotated. I have about 15,000 miles on them and was in for my third rotation when the defect was found. The side wall rubber is peeling and exposing the inner side wall of the tire. It is like the black rubber covering did not bond to the inner white liner. I did not see this at all since the tires were on the rear of the vehicle and the peeling was on the inside facing the frame. The air pressure is keep at 70 psi on the rear and 60 psi on the front since I tow my 5er in the summer.

Since I bought the extended warranty from Discount Tires my only cost was for 2 new tire replacement certificates at $37. 50 each.

Again just a heads up.

Jim, thanks for the "heads up"...

Is that limited to the 17" version or would it include the 16" as well???

I'd go ask the tire department but they are on the dead run today. Trucks are lined up 3 deep and 2 wide out there right now.

Mike. :)

Mike,
I am using the LT265/70R/17E 121R, so yes it is only on the 17" tires that I know of. I think that this could be a batch issue with curing of the rubber on the tires. I bought four new tires at 41,000 miles in April 11 and only two tires were replaced now, the other two have no defects at all.

Same DOT numbers? on the rear, have you alearted Michelin, sounds like a manufacturing defect. You should not have had to pay any thing. Bettert to be safe than sorry.

Scott,
Were the DOT numbers different on the bad tires vs. the good tires?

Yes, they were a couple of number off each other.

Mlee,

Discount tires were returning the tires to Michelin Corp for analysis of the defects.
I did have to pay for $37. 50 per tire for new replacement certificates so the tires could be replaced for any reason such as road hazards or manufacturing defects.
