Just recieved my rickson wheels for my 03, and I need to pick some tires. I was thinking of two, the michelin xde and hankook dho1.

If anyone has either of these (or any type in a 245/70-19. 5) can you let me know what you think of them? I would be most interested in what you might think about the traction in wet and snow, noise would be a second consideration, and tread life would be last. Thanks.

tires

Iknow afew people that have used hancooks with mixed reactions.

One had 2 out of rounds the other had problems balancing. The dealer ultimately replaced the sets. I hated my stock michelins that I didn't consider

another model. I have bridgstone AT revos now and so far have been perfect.

hope this helps. Steve

You cant go wrong with Michelins IMO. I run the 245 XDE MS, and its been a great tire, I just have one complaint (and its my own fault) I chose the Load Range H tire, and its WAY too much for the truck. The lighter load range tire would have been a better choice. The tires wear like IRON, are smooth, and basically quiet. The traction in the wet is good, and in the snow they are great (as great as they can be for a DRW in 2wd) when she is locked in 4x4, the tires are awesome. I really think you will be happy with the Michelins.

I looked for the load range "g" and they are not available anymore just the the "h" .

the hankooks are available in both load range g&h, but if I dont hear any good feedback on them I will go with the michelins.

thanks

Im convinced the Michelins are the best tire out there, pricey, but a VERY good tire. Its too bad the lighter load range XDE MS isnt available anymore. When the truck is loaded it rides awesome, but unloaded, with 4 of those tires across the back, it can get a bit rough. It might be a bit better if you are running an SRW truck.

We use the Hankook DH01's on our Ford 550's and they work great for us. It allows you to plow with the truck in 2wd almost all the time. With the stock Generals (LMT 450's I think) they would always be searching for traction. As far as mileage goes our oldest set has about 45K on them and still holding strong. This is on a truck that tows 12,000 lbs every day and hauls another 5,000 or so in the bed. The factory Generals were shot at about 20,000 miles. I know for us this has been an excellent choice, good mileage, good traction (on and off road), significantly less $, and so far no flats or blowouts.

Just shy of 102K on my Mich XDE MS's. Pulling 30K trailer one way, 7K the other. Factory Generals went 35K. I'd love to go to something lighter and quieter when (if) these wear out, but how can I buy something else when these are soooooooo long lasting.

Snow/ice traction is incredible. Mud not so muh.

I might drop down to 225's just to get the 12ply. I never gained any mileage with the 245's so I don't think I need the extra height.

I don't know if there is a perfect tire, but the Mich XDE MS's are as close as I've ever come across.
