Is it true that if you run michelin xzl 900 r16's over 60 mph that it will tear them up? If so is there anything real similar that is that big and narrow and really tough as well, that you could run 80 on the interstate? Thanks, Alex

alex,

it is true that michelin xzl tires in the 9. 0R16 size have a "K" speed rating (110 kilometres per hour/68 miles per hour). i don't know that it's true that they "tear up"... these are very tough tires.

it's possible that the heat generated at that speed is what hurts them. best to ask the michelin folks to know what happens to the tire.

you might want to check out this site for more info on michelins...

The way I understand the military michelins speed ratings is, they are given those ratings for their maxium load capacity. So if each tires is loaded down to their max capacity the speed rating is what the tire will hold up to under that much wieght.

guh2stroke, have you been able to find any 9. 00x16's ? Myself and a few others are looking for that same tire and have not had any luck.
