Saturday, November 3, 2001 for those guys who want to spend some time with the Michigan members of the GLTDR - We will be getting together for either breakfast or lunch.

It will be at Yosemite's Restaurant in downtown old Holly, MI with a probable side trip to Greg L's house to help him with a set of injectors, if he can wait that long to install them :)

Let me know here, or in email, if you can make it.

I'll set the time closer to the date.

Doc

I'm in Doc. Just let me know a time and maybe provide some directions off of 75. I'll bring my barring tool and timing fixture for the first gens. If there's any other tools that might be needed just ask. Been waiting for a reason to bring my ugly truck into troll land:D .

How about it, any other Yooper members want to convoy down?

OK - Let's shoot for 11 am, that way we can choose breakfast or lunch.

Here is the info on the restaurant:

Yosemite's 105 S Saginaw St Holly, MI (248) 634-4742

MAP

From I-75 get off on exit 98 (E Holly Rd) and go west - E Holly Rd turns into E. Maple St. E Maple ends at S Saginaw and I think the restaurant is on the south east corner of the intersection.

From US-23 get off on exit 79 (W Silver Lk Rd) and go east - W Silver Lk Rd runs into W Roberts St - go left on W Roberts St for one block then turn left on N Leroy St - go one block and turn right on Main St (this will get you through Fenton) - Main St will turn into Grange Hall Rd heading east. Take Grange Hall Rd to S Saginaw St and turn right - Go one mile and the restaurant will be on your left, just after the main intersection in town.

I have never been to Yosemite's, so you can let me know if my directions SUCK :D - That's why I've included the restaurant's phone number.

This get-to-gether is still on. We will meet at the restaurant at 11 am and go to GL's house afterwards. There will be several wives along on this one, so bring your's along too.

GL has a huge garage with a hoist and room to get four trucks inside. Don't miss this opportunity to see your Michigan buddies and GL's garage.

Doc

So far we have nine truck owners and at least four wives that plan to attend. Hope to see more of you out for this because it looks like GL will be putting on a good show in his garage for us :)

On my way. The Yooper ugly truck wagon train departs Gladstone at 4:45am. If you want to try and keep up just yell for Supersmoker on channel 19. If I find a lonely enough stretch of superslab I may try to find the govenor in O/D. See ya when I get there.

Twelve trucks showed up for lunch in Holly, Michigan, carrying twenty three passengers. We enjoyed a great lunch at the Yosemite's Restaurant. After lunch we gathered at Greg's house and enjoyed each others company, while watching and helping Greg R+R his transmission to install his new torque convertor, valve body and trans pan. If you planned to come to this BOMB session, but didn't show, you sure missed a great time.

A few more Michigan Events to prepare for:

More monthly breakfast or lunch meetings throughout Lower Michigan

Spring 2002 - Silver Lake Dunes Campout

Sometime in 2002 - UPer Trail Ride and Campout

Several Lower Michigan campouts

Great Time

It was a real good time, wish I would have ordered the Yahoo salad though:D

I want to thank Greg for letting us invade his top notched garage for all the diesel talk and to get reaquanted to all the guys.

And thanks to Doc for keeping us all informed, even if it was wrong:D  . .

Hope we can do it again soon...

Hope the Yooper made it all the way home:D

Da Yooper

Yep I made it home in one piece. Overnighted in Saginaw and left about 3pm after fixing the uncles van. Had monsterous headwinds from Bay City to Gaylord, 1/2 wave wip on the deer guard almost tapped the visor on a couple of gusts.

Had a great time, only downside of weekend was not being able to find the NASCAR broadcast on the way home. (Aren't there any NASCAR fans in Troll Land?:D:p )

Where's the pictures Doc?

The stats for those who asked:

Total distance travelled: 790miles

Overall fuel economy 18. 4mpg

F. E. Bay City to Manistique 15. 2mpg:eek:

High winds and high speeds suck

Elapsed time Gladstone to Holly 6 hours flat:)

When I gat the new wheels and tires I'm shooting for a sub 5.

Paul - you can see pictures here at the GLTDR Forums

It was great to see a Yuper in troll land. Wonder when their gonna blow up the Big Mac. Maybe it will keep the riff-raff up there where they belong LMAO.

There are lots of NASCAR fans around here. It so happens that all of us low landers can afford televisions, so they don't do radio broadcasts of the races for us anymore :D

Man do I look CHEESY in that photo!! LOL I did have a great time there - thanks for welcoming us into your shop Greg. I'm WAAAAAAY jealous of your shop - it's unreal! BTW, I'm teaching her right - she loves diesel's - call's them trucks (22 months old)! We were camping with my brother (who has a Ford F150 supercrew) a couple of months ago. I pointed to my truck and asked what it was - the answer was TRUCK. I pointed to my brothers F150 and asked the same - the answer was CAR!! BWAAAHAAAAAAAHAAAAAAAA #ad
Sunday morning we were leaving a restaraunt and there was a Ford 1 ton Dually with a powerstroke next to my truck - and I taught her "Icky Ford"! :D BTW, the car comment on my brothers truck was totally unrehearsed - I expected her to say truck, I was LMAO when she said car!!
