OK I am a new guy.

I have had my truck now for two months and 4500 miles. I found the TDR about 2 weeks ago. I have learned a lot about CTD here. I am sorry I missed the Hooters get together but I did not know about it until it was too late. I am a IS manager for a Plastics manufacturer in Portland and live in Lebanon. ( 64 miles each way). The only complaint I have about my truck is the rattle at idle. I plan to get it fixed as soon as I find a dealer that has a good service department. The small dealer that sold me the truck sells a lot of Fords and I do not think they work on too many Dodges without a hammer. :D

Hey new guy you drive right by my house everyday if you take Hwy231 to portland. :-laf

We ought to get together sometime and talk diesel. Don't seem to surprised to see this 20 yr old hop outta the white stacked CTD. ;)

Anyhow as far as service I used to work at Lebanon Auto Plaza, they are "OK" but if they give you any hassel what-so-ever tell 'em to shove it and go to Miracle Chrysler in Gallatin (they've moved recently they are on Nash. Pike going outta town past Wal-Mart). I've never had any problems with Miracle. :D

TDuPuy,

Hallmark in Antioch did my clutch and any other recall. they seem to have a very good cummins tech... . hella nice guy. BTW, check your alternator bracket for hairline cracks, its another TSB ..... have it done on the same trip. Took yours in on the idle speed recall yet?

That rattle is the pistons swapping holes on the ol cummins... . :D

Good luck with the clutch.

I am busting ground tomorrow on the new shop. Building a 30x30, can't decide how tall yet though 9 or 10 ft. Should have it done before the next meet. And yes, dag nammit, I am bringing my boy, no excuses!

Idle speed recall? My truck idles fine and I checked my alternator bracket and I have no cracks that I can see. I might just wait another 5k miles or so before I get the clutch fixed and see if any other problems come up. Can I remove the silencer ring without the Dealer giving me any problems?

Jeff

I don't see how the dealer would ever find out that the SR was missing. Yank it! ;)

The transmission swap deal at Red's has been put off until next weekend. Maybe I'll get some prep work done on the 12v before then.

Hoorah! Gap is building us a shop for the meeting! Maybe I can get mine built in the spring. Tech meetings here we come. :D

Hey Gap, did Rod ever get the gauges?

Of course he hasn't got them yet. I have the White/Marine ones and gave them to Pops. He liked them more than me! I got a set of black ones on order from Rod. I talked to him a few days ago and he said he got some in. I said GREAT! He said we used them to fill the 3 month back order's. Your on the 2 month list...

Can't win for loosing sometimes.

I'll have us a shop. Maybe we can get the floor dirty!!

Glad the transmission swap got moved. I gotta work that weekend, but I'll take off early to come have a look see. Gotta get a peek under Nicks... . I mean help ya'll. :p

As mentioned before by Andy, if you need any help with the shop I'm sure you could find some here. I'm an o. k. framer, but a hella wire stretcher... . 21yrs IBEW... will work for info. ;)

Found a truck!

As your fearless leader, I feel the dutiful need to more fully understand the needs and concerns of the 12-valve owner. ;)

96 Club Cab, LWB, 3. 55 LSD, 4x4, 125k, everything but leather, brush guard, nerf bars, slick original paint, 5th gear nut fixed, "turned up" slightly by Dixie Diesel during warranty period-warrantied low power complaint!, gooseneck hitch, bed caps, tailgate protector, toolbox.

Going to look at it tomorrow. Oo.

It won't take much to beat the 96 I looked at today in KY--although it DID have 4. 10's.

Hmmm, now for the upgrade list: KDP, gauges, stacks, timing, plate, lever adjust (and all that AFC stuff) clutch, 370's, synthetics, RT console, RT ladder bars, tint, what else?--help me help you!:-laf

What is this P7100??? ;) :D

ooops, forgot the GSK. Hmmm 3 or 4k?

How much timing to dial in? What is stock timing? I've heard that 16 is a good number for a daily driver.

Drove it today--good clean truck, ripe for the BOMB! Now to convince my sponsor, Bank of Dad.

Good news and bad news

The bad news is that the Finance Committee did not approve the Acquisition. The good news is that Track and Sled department got a full go on the '95 auto that Nick's transmission is going into.

More good news is that there's a pretty sharp truck out there for anybody wanting a 12-valve.

Details again: 125k on '96 Club Cab, 4x4, LWB, 3. 54's, 5-speed, all power, no CD, overhead compass/puter, SRW, tint, nerf bars, brush guard, toolbox, Al rail caps and tail gate protector, gooseneck hitch, bed mat, brake controller, CB mount, dark metallic green top and bottom, driftwood down the sides, paint is very good. Light hit in front end-good repair. Straight 3"-no cat, nice tip. 235/85 tires--a bit small. 5th gear nut fixed, shutoff solenoid updated, KDP-not addressed. Pump "turned up 10%" by Dixie Diesel under warranty for low power complaint. Drives good, I got it up to 70-75, brakes okay, 4WD functions, AC is fine, very few dings. Jonathan has had it 4 or 5 years and claims 5K oil changes. There is a Fram filter on it, but he swears that he doesn't normally use orange filters. It's in Wheels & Deals for 15,200 obo.

My buddy in Iraq might try to get it if we can figger out the money thing. He won't be back until January.

Back to the ranch. Anybody got any 12v BOMBS on the shelf? I'm looking. ;) Dad's truck will be just as slick as that one with a new windshield, paint/body job, carpet, and a lot of washing.

Stacks have been approved!Oo.

I'm probably going to buy the Snap-on tool for setting the timing on these pups.

Bye Bye oil changes

New BOMB on the way. I just ordered a Gulf Coast filter.

Lawrence has been running one on his 12v. He changed to synthetic oil after 10k on Rotella going through the bypass. The Rotella was NOT BLACK after 10k miles.

I bought it from John Birdsell a TDR advertiser. Regular price is $395, TDR discount for one is $375, 3 or more $355 each. The standard element is a roll of paper towels, but John does have an alternative element for 12. 50 each.

More info at http://gulfcoastfilter.com/

Dang Fellers!! Felling a little left out all the sudden... My auto notify must be DOA. I just happened to pop over here and notice that ya'll had been talking... I was starting to wonder if anyone was gonna post to this thread again. Shoulda' checked before now

Anywho! Anyone who wants to subscribe to the mailing list (I think most of ya are on it) can send a BLANK e-mail to -- email address removed --.

Hey Mark, I saw where you were getting raked over in a thread regarding your 40. I noticed that Nick and Wade spoke up in your defense. I put in my . 02 as well. Looked like that thread was starting to get a little outta hand. :)

Got my AFE Magnum Force/ProGuard7 from Nick. I likes it. Spensive, but looks good. Without the silencer ring or that honeycomb, she SURE IS LOUD now. Sounds like a screech owl sitting on my shoulder. :D

Hey Jeff, regarding your silencer ring, go for it if ya wanna. Don't think dealer would say anything about it. Paul (kimber) said he got his out in 5 mins. Took me and my ASE 6 hours and a case of beer. . Good luck! I'd love to help, but you should prob call Paul to help you on that one! LOL;)

See Ya'll!

Andy

Thank's I PM'd Steve to lock it, was getting to far in left field.

I was about to say "well I'm getting ready to drop $2400 for a dual disk & input shaft so I don't have $1500 for a turbo" but figured that would just add fuel to the fire. :D

Hey Wade, where or who do I need to contact to get some of those pamphlets you had at Hooters. I find myself missing more and more chances to do some recruiting... ... if ya gonna be impotent, ya gotta look impotent ;)
