I can't locate the letter, but I had a recall on my truck's ECM. It said something like extended use of cruise control may effect engine idle speed... ... I didn't know I had the problem until I got it back from the shop, then I could feel the difference. Before I took it in, with CC set and hit the brakes to slow down, it would actually still be pulling while I had the pedal mashed, I just passed it off as a heavy @$$ truck ... . I think it only applied to certain build dates, so you're probably O. K. if you didn't get a notice... ..... sorry it took so long to reply, Paul

Need new home for auto transmission coming out of Dad's truck. It's in the classifieds, but I don't want to ship it. 140k on it and pulled 2 loads of round bales today without a shudder. Make offer.



Anybody heard from Meacham? I see that he's run some 1/4 passes-in his signature.



I got a 450# battery to put in the sled today. I think Red is going to donate a bunch of weight for it too.



My clutch has gotten slippy. Suppose I'll do the twin-disc street next. Going to take it easy for a few days and see if the grip comes back.

Somebody Bailed Andy's Sorry Butt Out Again!!!

Why is it that it seems like I'm always getting into something and it's one of ya'll that ends up geting me out of it? Whatever it is, I like it. I'm certainly getting my $36/year's worth. THIS time it was BigPoppa to the rescue!! I'm trying to ship my ATV cross-country... . The freight company wouldn't ship it on the pallete that the shipping company had strapped it to. I remembered where BigPoppa (sorry man... I can't remember names for squat. ) worked, and thought that maybe he could hook me up with a crate. SHO 'NUFF... He and his rather eccentric mechanic took me round back and loaded one up for me. Thing fit like a glove, and was a snap to assemble. Hopefully the freight co will take it this time. Cross your fingers for me.



Hey Wade... Might wanna get in touch with BigPapa on that transmission. I think he may be in the market for one that works.

Wade, what kind of transmission you got? I'm saving my money for one of the bad boys. My trans man says I have a "leaking front lip seal". It's not leaking externally but internally and it sometimes misses the 2nd to 3rd shift. He says it will have to be pulled to fix and that I might as well rebuild it at that time. I'd just as soon run her till she quits and maybe by then I can afford one of the bad boys.

Hey Wade, I hear that ya'll are doin the transmission swap this weekend at Red's? I had thought I might get to swing by, but it's iffy at best right now. Will you all JUST be there on saturday?

Details on the ATV? I doubt that I need (can afford) it, but might be able to find a buyer.

Did you ever find anybody in our area that can (and will) time a P7100 manual pump using the dial indicator method? Damned if I can find anybody around here that has even heard of this method. (the only accurate and proper way to do it) I don't want to let anybody time this early 98 using the "guess" method which is all I have found so far. The truck is really out of time so bad that it heats up almost to the danger point (about 215*+ or so) and I won't drive it this way. Any help would be appreciated.

I might buy the tool, but it'll be a week or two. I'm sure it's not on the truck. --and that still doesn't give him a real mechanic. Nathan might not want me doing it, and might not want to do it himself. There is one local shop I've failed to look up. He's supposed to be the diesel guru around here. Guess who's getting a 13" FE upgrade?



Peter comes through with legendary customer support again.

At least 10,000 miles down the road, my 12. 25" OFE starts slipping--I call Peter, he says he wants to see what the matter is and will upgrade me to the 13" FE and flywheel for a nominal fee!



I'm basically getting full credit for the used clutch!



Gonna love the 13". No more saying, "No I can't hook to the sled" or whatever, hook me up let's pull something!!!

Okay folks it has turned into a Mid-Tenn tech meet.

Paul and I are meeting Gap in Dickson. Then we'll meet Red and Nick in Jackson. Five folks and at least three with greasy fingers constitutes a "tech meeting" in my book. I'll take my camera for technical details and in case Red does any Piers-class burnouts.



Also found a #4 plate for the puller, now for some nozzles and a housing.

Boy am I whooped. 12 hr transmission swap took a licken on me. I couldn't get outta the bad at 5:30 this a. m after getting in bed at 12:30..... Wade, I tell ya, the things we do for him ... ... Had a great time though. You guys missed it, we had a blast! Candy Apples and all !

hey guys, i had intended to be there to help. but the whole no dl sucks. dad wouldn't let me drive and i had an appt last nite. wade said that it was shaking and shuddering? i have no idea what mite be causing that? it drove fine when i took it out of the white truck. shifted pretty firm. i hope that sc has a solution for it.

I haven't rode in it... . Wade and daddy did. Appears to be 2nd gear. Only shudders there. All that HP wade has is slipping the TC !

TWO! times the other day I started to post. Once I had this long descriptive post updating y'all on my progress and so on since Wade said nobody's post's.

Anyways on my end what's new is the HX40 is on hold. Just got a new Nextel phone to keep in touch with my sweetheart outta state. Good news is that since I won't be spending money on that then more than likely I'll be able to get my Haisley-McLeod clutch I want.



Also my sweetheart that a few of you have heard about is giving me $$ towards the clutch for christmas because she doesn't know what else to get me and she want's to see me pull next year!Oo. Man she keeper! :-laf

6th pull was 1st, 2nd and 3rd no lock up, smithland, ky

7th pull was 1st, skipped 2nd, and 3rd, w/lock up, michigan city

it must be the killer fluid change. wade what brand did you put in it? the only other thing that i could think of is the TV cable adjustment. i'm sure that sc will stand behind the trans.

I don't know what it is... I don't know if it is mechanical or not. Could be a simple something out of wack. We put ATF +3 in it (Thats what you had in it right? I didn't get a chance to ride We was all ready to get home. Wished you could have hung around. We had a good time. We was all slap happy towards the end... !



We'll get it figured out. I can't imagine doing a 6 speed conversion...

Hey, I'm back. Titans ROCKED today! Shutout until 20 seconds left in the game. Now some sleep would be good.



Back to the transmission: The only time it doesn't shake and shudder is in 4th and after lockup in 3 or 4. I'll be a callin' SC tomorrow. We put a blend of store brand and Valvoline ATF+3 in it.



I may have the transmission flushed to get out any crud that may have gotten in.



Nick, we had it all in and ready to go--checking for leaks and the forward fitting at the block is blowing oil. The same one you had patched up with the red hose and fitting. We messed with that fitting for about an hour. We broke the plastic hickie, used one from the other line, fiddled with the o-ring and bushing, over and over until it finally sealed. All the while we're taking a drip shower in ATF. That added about an hour to the deal, but we made it work. Plastic crap sucks on the underside of a pickup truck.



Hey Mark, I've lost a few good posts for this board too. That always sucks. Don't let that girlie start driving your truck. Might not get it back. BTW I got to drive Red's yesterday. Talk about smoke stories!!! Overfueled doesn't begin to describe the screen that thing will lay down--poor little 160 pump
