Multi-faceted Cummins/Dodge day.
I think the neighborhood is paying Red to keep the mosquitos down. Paul--did any mosquitos bite you?
Good news and bad news. Good first. FIXED THE shake/shudder I had in the puller truck!!!
Now chronologically:
Couldn't get the truck restarted last night after general AFC molestation and plate install and filter replacement. Added ten gallons to the tank and filled fuel filter-DOH (GOTTA get a prime loc). Go her fired up, but the throttle started hanging up--as the throttle cable was frayed and getting worse. Confirmed that parts were available at D/C Lebanon and took it in, still shaking and with old 47RH still in the bed and candy apple juice all over everything.
So the D/C store takes it right in and, since it is a RECALL job, they put a punk on there about Mark's age (no offense Mark, you have better tech skills). I go to the parts counter to get a fuel sender and some paint for the instrument pods--and who walks up but Meacham Evins.
So were both just gabbing 109mph about all the diesel stuff we and everybody else is doing-and Meacham orders up a fuel filter

(I thought, man does he know?) So we went to the Cashier together and she says 40-some odd dollars and YOU NEVER SEEN a part go back to the parts counter so fast. I was rolling:-laf .
So he says hey let's go for a ride and I'm all over that. We pull out and he nails it on TST #3-- ZOOM ZOOM Toyota boy watch OUT! Then he dials up #7 and ZOOM ZOOM BANG zooooooo no more omp (there's the bad news). Something broke in the transmission we think. Damn glad I wasn't driving at that point. Meacham has a buddy in a 94 come haul us back to the dealer. The he gets a ride from another guy in a 3500 flat bed. Cummins all the way baby.
Meanwhile back at the ranch. Kiddo hasn't even finished the cable when we get back. I order some more parts and then get the truck.
Idle is too high. Smoke is gone. ???
At Watertown I stop and look under the hood. Fuel line is leaking at the inlet. Manual shutoff cable has been put in a bind. Throttle cable is routed stupid. Pump linkage adjusting bolts are loose. So much for my praise of Lebanon Auto Plaza.
I fix the leak, move the cable, and drop the idle. Now smoke--okay. Still shakes like hell.
Get home, crawl under, start to take driveshaft out and start pushing/twisting looking for something and find the transfer case loosey goosey. FAWHOOOPS! DOH!
Crank it down real good, cross fingers, drive it and all is well.
Then stop out at Lawrence's place (He has a '96)and he offers to help me get the old transmission out of the back. So we do that. He likey #4 and Sun Coast!.
So I'm sucking back a 24 and celebrating.
