Any Ram guys in SE Florida?

Good Dodge Mechanic in N. Alabama?

Since we're on the subject.......

Does anybody know if the Isspro EV series is that much better in the dark than the Isspro standard line? I really like the looks of the standards, but it would be nice to see them at night too. Also- does anybody make a dash pod or system for a 3" gauge?

yes there is a huge difference in the isspro standard and ev. i have the ev's in my '95 and ultra lite autometers in the '01. i like both of them.

Another CTD day!

I started out hunting a thermostat for the 12v. Old one was sticking. Local parts boys wanted $32-not in stock. So I found a genuine Cummins for $25 in Nastyville. So I figger I'll go by DPP while I'm down there. Couldn't find it--no signs or nuthin'. Finally called them I found out I'd been all around. If you find Tennessee Off-Road, you're close. We can use that shop on a Saturday, bring your own tools and beer, and I wouldn't want to be down there very long after dark. Two trucks could fit end to end--just need to give several days notice.

So I see funk in the radiator fins (and inside) and decide to pull it out to give it a good overall cleanup. Then I get it out and find a timing cover staring me in the face with a dowel pin just begging to be fixed. Now I'm hunting a big wrench to pull the fan.

And we got invited to a Southern TDR event at Sun Coast:

Wade;

This is Josiah Loverin (BigUgly) from the SouthEastern TDR. I'm setting up an event at Suncoast Trannys on Jan 17th. They are in Fort Walton Beach FLA, only about 20 miles East of Pensacola. So far we're having guys from the SETDR and the Central Florida TDR. The plans are still in the Early planning stage, but looks like we'll have BBQ, probably a Dyno, and possibly a 1/8th mile drag strip on Sunday the 18th. There are severial campgrounds near by, Do you think any from your group would be interested in heading South for it?

Josiah
So yall let him know if you think you might want to run down there. It's about 8 hours.

OH OH, and a vendor contacted me about TESTING a turbo!Oo. :D

Now if it don't rain on me anytime soon...

So, looks like I'm going to be timing the pump out there in the rain. :p

I got all the stuff off without a hitch. Was going so good I didn't want to stop, but I ran out of things to do. Spent a while admiring all those "made in usa" gears and such under the cover.

KDP looks like it hasn't moved at all. Now to make it stay that way. Anybody got a tab in his pocket? Heck I just found out that Cummins has a tab--and I was there today. Dangit.

Variation on the "measure twice, cut once" rule: Double check the list and make one trip! Like I follow the measure 2x rule. I just try to cut it on the long side--then I have something to cut twice. I ramble.

Tom @ Black Mountain Diesel did my KDP as the first KDP customer with his Jig Kit he got last year. I got that out of the way as soon as possible, without even knowing how bad it was.  :-laf

WISH I WAS THAT LUCKY!:p Whenever I get a clutch in that will hold that #10 I'll be hurt'n for a turbo once again!:{

Haven't seen Briar Hopper on much lately.

How much does Tom get for a KDP jig job? Some folks might not want to get as close and personal with their pre-2000 5. 9 as I have. I have to do Mom's next and Gap hasn't done his:p and at least one other Mid Tenn'er need to do his.

3500 salvage

Anybody need a good 5. 9 and NV-4500?

It's a 3500 with gauges and stuff, little over 100k and think it's a 24v. Don't know the extent of the damage or extra goodies, but it's a total. He wants $5000.

It has been replaced with an 03. So the goodies won't transfer.

Holler at me for contact info.

SOLD

So I tabbed the KDP, but now I have a mystery bolt. NEXT time I'll digi-cam the tear down part. NOW I think I'll have a beer, start the heater, and study on it some more. I started a thread under 12v engine/transmission. Photo of bolt there. It's not the bolt that bothers me, it's the bushing. Don't make no sense.

Tech meeting of one in my front yard.

If I can't figure out a use for the bushing, I'm going to leave it out and slap the heifer back together so I can play with the timing and AFC stuff!

GAP, what's up with Red's truck? Burning some of that fuel yet?

Where is everbody? Christmas shopping or something?

I've been messing with my playtoy a lot here lately. (the 'ol 79 Chevy K20). Not working till afternoon's now leaves my mornings open to work on it.

I can't really do anything more with the Dodge till I get a clutch, and the way I'm hurting for money now I dunno how I'm gonna afford that Haisly clutch.

But anyhow I'm still here in the shadows watching. Whenever I get another clutch I wanna try that #4 plate you have Wade.

Sure Mark, you can play with the #4.

I've had the 12v down for a few days. Pulled the radiator to clean it---wound up killing the KDP and retiming the injection pump as well as running the valves--which Dad said he'd never done.

Second go at the timing gave me 4. 95mm lift--I was shooting for 5. 0 CLOSEAFREAKINUFF! I think 4. 9 is 16 degrees for my pump. Hunting TDC was fun. 144 foot pounds on the pump gear nut--that was a challenge by myself.

Anyway, it'll do burnouts now and the hill where it wouldn't hold 65--now will do 85 with more to go. :D But it's still a slushbox. :p

Now maybe I'll do all that springy stuff tomorrow after I kill a deer--or some time. Anybody else going to the woods?

HEY GAP! Send me Red's address. Gotta put him on the xmas card list you know.

Ya'll didn't go to Jesup did ya?

Wade, did you use a lot of brake cleaner or parts cleaner on the injection pump shaft that the gear goes on? i would pop it off and clean the hell out of it or it will slip time. and 175-200 ft-lbs is better. i have slipped mine and know a bunch of people that have. on the going to get the truck. we are leaving in a little while to drive to crossville. gonna stay there and then ride up and get the truck in the am. be coming thru nashville about 10 or 11

Injection pump Time

Better spray it with brake cleaner, wipe it with a rag, spray it, wipe it, spray it, wipe it. When it sticks, it'll stick, but when it slips... . yuk!

IF ya'll want to use me as a pit stop I work 7a. m - 7p. m today (Saturday) and tomorrow.

HOOTIE DOO

Them springs really do a number on the gubnor.

Just got back from first ride with GSK and AFC springs changed out. NOW we're getting somewhere!:D Feels more like it should.

I had a little car dodge a smoke puff--I was 150 yards down the road and this clown swerves around the cloud. :-laf

GSK and AFC stuff is pretty darned easy compared to KDP and timing work.

I'll torque the pump nut some more when I have a helper.

Zoomie zoom.

Gap, is them normal hours for you? Long days you got there.

12 hr shifts, 2 days on 2 days off... pretty nice actually love all the time off. Don't mind the long days. Better than doing five in a row!

Did you do 3 or 4 GSK? Hope you did the 4 you'll want it!! Wait till you do the valve springs, them back ones are FUN!!

I think he's volunteering to do mine when I get the other 6 springs Wade!;) :-laf :p

With no cash to do any BOMB'ing at the present time, I still felt like monkeying with the truck, so I cleaned all the beer cans out and cleaned the SNOT out of it. . Put some new pics in my readers rigs section if anyone is interested. Can see my new AFE I got from Nick, and the cab lights I had installed.

hey Wade... . yeah, I'll be in the woods... My sig . 270 puts 'em horizontal with a quick snap of the trigger. :D BTW, if anybody kills one and doesn't want it, if you'll dress him, I'll take him off your hands. . and bring you some jerky in exchange for the cleaning. Folks at work LOVE jerky (and are willing to pay for the processing), and there's a guy local that makes the best I've ever had.

Not the racer.

I found out what the Death Wobble is.

Running along on a little backroad with the newly unleashed 12v at upwards of 80mph, I hit a bump and got my HANDS FULL. I thought me and the dog were going to swap seats. Too fast to power out of it and brakes made it worse--front end felt like the tires were taking turns coming off the pavement. Eventually I got it hauled down. Felt like a tie rod had broken!

Anyhoo, it was exciting. Now to go read up on it.

AND it's got to cool off before I can get serious about hunting.

No more springs for me for a while--Marko. ;)

Replied to ya on the Death Wobble thread. Replace the track bar, part # DS1413 @ any Advance Auto Parts store and get the truck aligned and you'll be good to go again!
