Any Ram guys in SE Florida?

Good Dodge Mechanic in N. Alabama?

After death wobble, it takes a while to get over the bobble-head effect.

Sure, Gap and Red will fall right in and help with anything. They love that stuff! Well, I kinda do too.

Me from a thread where folks are worried about what DC is doing next year etc. Thought yall might like it.

... Otherwise, I'm 2G forever, 7100's preferred----whoops, I've wandered into the wrong threads again. :p

But really, how many more trucks do I need? If I live 50 more years and drive 30k per year (way more than I do now) that's 1. 5 million miles. Divide that by 4 trucks, and that's only 375,000 per truck. I have two trucks now one with 140k and one with 95k, and plan on getting a couple more eventually--they would probably have 100k each on them. So I still wouldn't have a truck with 500k on it.

With bypass filtration and a paint job every now and then, I could have a sweet stable of CTD's--all 5. 9--Hooked on 2G!

Maybe I should go back on my medication. :-laf

What would your ultimate stable contain?

I've got the 4x2 24v 6'er, 4x4 12v auto, NEED ;) 4x4 97/98 12v 5-speed (sled puller, drag racer), and maybe a 4x4 12v or 24v 3500 5 or 6-speed flatbed, for the really heavy stuff. Heck I'll start a thread.

Go pull for the Titans folks, they're in a mess right now with Atlanta. 0-21 in the first half at the moment --Samari just got a concussion...

OH BOY, we're back up to 14-21, FRANK is BACK he caught both TD's. :D

Well the tow truck laid down on me this weekend. we went to pick up that '97 3500 total that wade found. and the clutch started slipping pulling out of my road. i turnded the box down and that didn't help much, but we made it up there and after 3 hours got that truck loaded on the trailer and slipped our way home. i ordered a southbend Con FE for it. should be a great clutch for what i am gonna use the truck for. That truck had been wrecked really hard. but that's ok. Wade did you pick the rims up yet? what do you think?

Transfer Case Help

Can any of you guys help me on this one?

I am in the process of tearing down my NV241HD transfer case to fix a couple of leaks. I have pulled the drive shaft to replace the seal. Also, I need to remove the rear extension housing to replace the leaking gasket. The extension on my transfer case is one piece and the factory service manual shows it in two pieces. (The manual refers to a snap ring and snap ring cover that I do not have on my TC). I removed the four bolts that hold the extension to the transfer case. The extension will move about a 1/4" before meeting some resistance. Is there anything else that I need to remove to get the extension and gasket off? I don't want to yank this thing and tear up my TC.

Is there anybody else (NAPA, Auto Zone, etc. ) that sells these gaskets and seals for the transfer case? I am walking kinda bow-legged after buying them from the dealer ($50. 00 for a gasket, come on now!)

Anybody done this repair before and have some advice?

Thanks,

Jay

Jay you need to call Future transmision about the gaskets. If they don't have what you need talk to Rocky at Essentailly Offroad. They are both on Lokey or what I call Manson Pike.

I can vouch for Rocky and the guys at Essentially Off-Road. They are a great group of folks. Had some work done on a Toyota a while back.

Rocky custom built me a super-sweet set of honest to goodness nerf bars. I slid them across rocks MANY times. VERY stout.

Fellas, thanks for offering to help. I wrestled with it again last night. Was able to look on top of the rear extension and saw the rubber plug. Pulled it out and found the snap ring (which does not have any holes for the pliers). Had to cut a pair of snap ring pliers off so that they were around 5" long. Wedged them in there to spread the snap ring (because the snap ring did not have holes in it for the pliers) and the extension finally slid off.

I would like to personally thank DC for providing us with another poor design. Poor design, it not just for your track bar... ... ...

Anyway, if anyone ever needs to replace their transfer case rear extension seal and gasket, let me know. I have got the stubby snap ring pliers ready and waiting.

Hopefully will get this thing back together before turkey time tomorrow.

Ya'll have a good Thanksgiving... ... ... .

Nick, "... Well the tow truck laid down on me this weekend... "

Wouldn't have nothing to do with them BIG ol tires you got on there... You know, Red could grind them tires down for ya if you need them done quicker!

Turbo still on the shelf... waiting on that blankedy blank manifold... Gotta love back orders:rolleyes:!

Nick I am heading out your way for turkey day. The in-laws live in Lexington. Is there anything going on out there this weekend or any shops I don't need to miss. I also noticed in the travel companion there is a listing in Lexington. Who is it?

tools

I've got a few special tools too.

A stubby 7/8 for AN-8 fuel line fittings.

The SnapOn kit for p7100 timing.

And the newest two are the special pliers for those silly "constant tension" clamps as found on our hoses, and a Pedal Holder Downer--that thing is the trick for High Idle in the morning, both from Geno's. The pedal thingy hooks to the sternum wheel and pushes on the pedal--works on 12 and 24v trucks.

Probably make a 12v Injector Popper Outter soon.

Haven't used the clamp pliers yet.

Holler if you need to borrow any.

And don't leave the xfer case loose--it might cause a vibration.

Yall see any half-worn mudder or AT tires around in 16 inch, let me know. 285-315 ;)

Headin' West Too

I am headin' West for Turkeyday as well. Will be in the Jackson/Lexington/Parsons/Clifton area. I am hoping to have the truck back on the road with me by then. Sneakin' out for a half day today. Do me a favor and don't tell my boss that I am gone!

Later... ... ... Jay

Mid TN TDR Chapter Meeting

Jan 10th, 5:00 a. m. Ya'll better not be late either!

I think I might make this one! :D

We can do sled pulling with my boys battery toys. Them things are funny with that 12volt battery on a 6volt motor.

From what I saw, He's probably on the 2nd or 3rd set of tires by now:--)... ... ..... I just love the sound of an over-volted motor and the smell of burning plastic:cool: :-laf :-laf

diesel, don't really know of any shops around here that deals with diesel stuff. we work on all of our trucks at personnal shops or driveways. don't have a clue who it is in lexington????

Gap, hell no the tires didn't have anything to do with it. joey try to pull a sled in 3rd gear hi range, was the first burn, i tried to start out in 5th instead of 3rd a couple of times. and joey pulled some really heavy loads with it. ordered the clutch on monday. be back on the road soon. be nice to see what the truck will actually do on 5x5 with no slip

everyone have a safe thanksgiving
