Warning Rip Off

East TN and South KY meet (TDR Dodgers)

I propose in the early afternoon of the 18 or 19 of October at Hooters in Murfreesboro. I'm busy the next weekend and possible busy the weekend before.

That should give me time to get a mailer out to those that aren't active on here.

Kick it around.

I'm gonna be outta state for the next 3 weekends, so kinda keep me up to date with what's going on Wade.

Things aren't looking to good with my college program and the dealership right now, so I might not be there much longer.

Oh well back to wally hell I go. :(

Sounds good to me Wade. Just hope I can stay focused on what ya'll are talking about... ... a lot of orange distractions. I'll be keeping track, Paul

I'll slap my hand on the table with another maybe. I'm supposed to fly out to Philladelphia for a work trip on that Saturday. I can be pretty weasely sometimes, so lets see if I'm slippery enough to get out of going on this trip... It's for disaster recovery... Why should we test our backups! I'm sure they're good! We're just a hospital corp for crying out loud! Patients smatients... . MTTDR is WAY more important than some stinkin' backup recovery test. ;)

I dunno. I'll know more tomorrw... I think they may really be trying to simulate a disaster and aren't going to tell us who needs to be on the plane and who's staying behind until the day before... Idiots... We have lives outside of the building people!!!

[/soapbox off]

sorry... got a little carried away there.

I'll try guys!

Hope everything goes well for your folks Wade. If there's anything I can do, jus lemme know.

agenda

I reckon we should talk about officers and structure: how many, what to call them, nominate, appoint. Basically-how complicated or simple we want things to be.

We should look at our calendar for next year, which pulls, drags, events, we want to support. I have three local pulls in mind. ;) One of the two held right here near my house and both of the ones to be held at Barry's (Ivy Bluff). Then there are the county fair pulls all around.

Drag races at Beech Bend might be in order as well as other national events.

Tech meetings. Who is going to volunteer a shop? Mine ain't built yet, but should be by sometime in 03. Who needs to do KDP's, and other necessaries.

Dyno events. I like Brent's (the Mustang shop) setup, unless something better comes along (hint to a certain member) Two "events" should keep interest up. Sping and Fall should give cooler temps -thus better air for the numbers.

Recruiting. I called a guy about a Cummins for sale and he quickly found out I knew more than your average guy about CTD's. I found out that his other truck is a '97--so I'll be trying to get him aboard. Yes Mark it's the '95 on the side of the road. My buddy is interested, the price is low because it has 300,000 miles--and on the 3rd auto.

[edit]

Dude sold the truck before I got there. $7000 was the price--oooh if only it were 4wd--can you say PULLER!

What else?

I'd like to hit some drags... I think I'll retire from the pulling circuit :D . Seems that there'd be less I can break at the dragstrip.

I'd be willing to offer my garage to any of you that have need of it. It's a two car with that one big door. I can get my truck in, shut the big door and still have room to get in front of it to get under the hood. Not a lot of room mind you, but room. If nothing else, it's got a concrete floor that makes finding those parts we drop easier to locate. Got a concrete drive too if someone just needs a solid floor to work on one for a few days.

Hey BP, don't want to cause family problems, but I expect to be there for a couple of hours at least.

The TDR postcard mailout has scared up a few folks who've emailed me. Look forward to meeting them and all the other new faces.

Doubt we'll get all of our bidness taken care of, so suggest the next meeting be early December, and then starting in '04, move the bidness meetings around the Mid-Tenn area. Like say maybe Dickson, Columbia, Lebanon, Springfield.

Might have good cool air for dynoing in February--that'll double as a Lebanon meeting and maybe by then we'll be able to put the pulls and drags on the calendar.

I'll be there on Sunday.

My dad has a big shop. He use too/still does some work on heavy equipment. It is out of the way for most. 40x80, every tool imaginable. Seperate bay with Lift tha'll accomadate our stacked trucks. He'll gladly let us use it. If ya'll want to drive. It is about a 1/2 hr North of jackson. Bout a two hr drive from Nashville.

I am building a shop this spring. 30x30. It can gladly be used too. I live in Dickson, 30 miles west of Nashville down I40 towards memphis.

Whatever, I am game!

I'm in for a definate on Sunday. Lookin forward to it.

BTW, my family has a small embroidery business... . if we wanted some hats, shirts, jackets, etc... we could have them made up for just the cost of the clothing... something like TDR MidTN Chapter Charter Member or something... Just a thought.

see ya'll!

Andy

Won't be able to make it to the meeting. Sundays will never be good for me. I know people are busy on Saturday but that sure would be more convenient. I'm all for spreading the meetings around too. Springfield and Lebanon is a good ways from the southern part of the state so let's consider Columbia, Hohenwald, and Lawrenceburg too.

If we did have these meetings in smaller towns we could put an ad in the paper for the locals and get some more people at the meetings. It would give us a chance to recruit some more members and get our name out there.

If anyone ever wanted to come to the Hohenwald area, I've got a great place for meetings. Plenty of room for parking, pool table, etc. There's also a pretty good pool room we could hang out at. Maybe in a few months y'all could get down this way. I know a couple of definite members we could get on that would probably be inactive on the forums but would love to be a part of the TDR if they could be a part of a club or something like we've got going on here.

Keep me updated on the happenings at the meeting, if there's anything that I could do, let me know.

Alternating between Sunday and Saturday is also a plan. Of course most dyno days and pulls and races will be on Saturdays.

I don't expect everyone to make every meeting. That's the idea of moving the meetings--to have at least one meeting within an hour of just about everybody in the midstate area.

It would give us a chance to recruit some more members and get our name out there. That's why Nashville ain't on the list. Newspaper and Radio publicity is free with PSA's (public service announcements) You just have to get them in a long time in advance. Maybe we need a media hound to run up a list of Mid-Tenn radio stations and newspapers for PSA's to go to. And also invite them to the pulls and drags and dynos. Cheaper than advertising-hey maybe we can get on TN Crossroads!:p I didn't get fliers out for everybody to distribute this time, but next time I will and I like to hit the feed stores, hardware/home improvement stores, auto parts, and auto accessories places. I even handed one out in standstill traffic.

Thanks for the input Hans, lots of things can be worked out, or at least discussed this way.

Hey Thomas, welcome aboard.

There's an East TN group too. I sent an email, but haven't heard back from them.

We're just getting started, but we're ACTIVE. We've already had a dyno meet and a truck pull meet and have an experience drag racer in the mix--with a few more of us ready to try straight-line racing. Not everybody wants to compete, and that's okay. There's a lot of fun to be had supporting the gearheads.

Pulling has gotten its hooks into several of us. There'll be four pulls in my county alone next season, we should be on the schedule for at least three. We've got a practice sled here in Cannon Co. And they're working on getting a regular truck pull going in Madison Co. (Jackson).

Regular meetings we'll swap stories and work on the events schedule. We'll have some tech meetings where we help each other work on trucks.

Our visibility should help us bring more into the CTD/TDR fold. The more the merrier.

ANYBODY ELSE who can't make it and wants to be put on the roster (for chapter circulation) should send me a PM or email with your contact info.

Report

Meeting was a rattle-clattering-smoke-spewing success! Nothing like diesel fumes AND Hooters. :p

12 Folks with 11 trucks. One guy was a smarty and brought his Ram Air car, not his turbo Ram.

In attendance:

Andy Jones

Bob Jones

Stephen Patterson

Gary Patrick

Allen Stoner

Kirk Harris

Andy Gibbs

Charles Ashley

Jay Sykes

Paul Roos

Paul Hassel, with little one--no excuse Gap. ;)

and me.

Andy Gibbs (Andyman) is our new Vice-Pres. We'll add more officers as the club grows. Two folks should be able to swing it right now.

We decided that Membership and Participation in our Chapter activities is open to anyone interested in CTD's. HOWEVER, voting rights are limited to current TDR subscribers who own a CTD.

Also discussed was posting more in this forum and less in the "Members Rigs" forum. Especially for upcoming events. Reasoning: Enhanced visibility--the other forum is hidden to non-members.

Next meeting set for second or third Saturday of January. That avoids shopping/holidays/hunting conflicts pretty well. We volunteered Gap to be the host (cuz he wasn't there)--so that will make the location somewhere in Dickson.

Tenative Dyno meeting in March.

I'll get a Club Roster out in a week or two.

Lesson in recruiting. I met Bob at a fuel stop in Manchester--just walked up and started talking Cummins with him. And he brought Andy.

On the way home tonight I pulled a CTD over and found out it is a 98 Quad 4x4, TWELVE VALVER! We talked Cummins for a bit and I got his contact info. And asked him not to sell the truck without calling me first!
