2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Midas Lifetime Brake warranty.

My brakes just started to grind today. There was no warning that the pads were running low. I checked around and Midas offered the lifetime replacement for $100. Good deal, or not? I think one rotor will need turning. Not damaged much.

Anyone use them before?

My experience with Midas brakes was that the you still have to pay all labor to replace the PADS that have the lifetime warranty. They just don't charge you for the PADS again. My opinion, BAD deal.

20. 00$ pads stop like 20. 00$ pads. not worth it. pads are guaranteed, the rest like machining ,bearing repacks are substantially more. ken

Had a midas set up on my chev. I got 60k miles out of the rears. Yes I had to pay for the turning of the drums put the labour was free for the replacement? as well as the replacemnet pads. This was on a half ton so I can't speak for bigger trucks. I did the same thing with the exhuast on the same truck. It was a northern unit that would see 5-6 months of wet and salt yearly. Had the mufflers changed out twice. Each time only one muffler was holed but they changed both. cost me $10 admin fee. I've had good service from them (lots of locations) just not sure if I would take my Dodge there. You can always ask about better pads? Good luck, Cheers

Does the warranty cover normal wear and tear? I had a set of pad I bought that had the lifetime warranty. When they wore faster than what I thought was acceptable, I took them back and was told the warranty only covered defects in workmanship. Not wear or even unusually fast wear.



I just buy a good quality brake pad now, warranties on brake pads don't mean much to me now.

first brake job i did i bought raybestos heavy duty pads from kragan auto parts. i recently had to do my brakes again. i had to buy the replacement brakes, bring in the old ones and i got a refund... ... a little bit of a fire drill, but it worked for me...

I got the Midas lifetime brakes for my wife's car. They don't charge me anything to replace them, but they drive you crazy trying to get you to spend money on any kind of service they can think of.



I wouldn't do it again... . not worth the hassle.

I just did my front brakes on my '98 with 110K on it. I previously did them at 45,000. I used performance friction carbon metallic pads from autozone. Keep in mind that I do have an exhaust brake and use it all the time so that effects the wear that I get but I got 65,000 miles out of that set of pads. I had a sticking caliper on the right hand side and had one pad that was worn down to about 3mm thick. All the others had plenty of life left in them (about 25% left on the wear bar). They have a lifetime warranty and I took them in and they replaced them no questions asked. I don't turn my rotors I just skuff them up with emery cloth but I replaced them long before they get scored. Took me about 2 hours to replace both sides. They are ~$40 a set
