So I dropped the REAR driveshaft as my other thread says.
Anyway the dam parts store sold
me the wrong shaft and I went to move the truck because
It’s blocking the street.
The transfer case has basically no fluid in it, but we needed to move it about 50 feet…so we tried to push it, doesn’t want to move forward. Tried to drive it, doesn’t engage. Did grind going back into 4wd during an attempt but didn’t move. Not making any crazy sounds.
during the pushing and then flat towing (25 feet so far if that) the trans was in neutral. It seems to make a pop noise when you go forward regardless of what gear it’s in (or not in) and does NOT want to even roll forward. It did not pile any more fluid.
It drove home fine in front wheel drive but now doesn’t want to move forward. Moves back ok.
What is going on??? Did I somehow kill the transfer case?
It’s not bone dry but it’s very low. My dumb self tried to pull the tailhousing and thusly took the bottom bolt out, r&r the seal, so it lost a lot but not everything. That deal was a real pita.
We did try to put the transfer case in N during the course of actions.
Thanks
