Good day everyone,

Bare with me please this is my first post so I will start with a little about my self. I am an Aircraft Hydraulics Specialist originally from Ohio and in the Air Force currently stationed in California at Edwards AFB. In May I ordered my first Dodge diesel (6. 7) and took delivery 3. 5 weeks latter and subscribed to TDR immediately after. Absolutely an OUTSTANDING truck with higher quality than I'm used to with GM. But then its been 12 years since I bought a new vehicle.

Now to my questions.

I had the new TSB down loaded at 1500 miles because the MIL light had come on and the EVIC came on with catalyst at 80% about 20 miles later. Today I was driving and the MIL light came on so I figured it was time for an active regen so I drove on the highway for an hour. The MIL light did not go off. How do I find out why its on, what code set and how do I clear the light once the situation has been remedied?

By the way this is a great forum and I love the comrodery!Oo.

Thank You,

Sarg

Click the button on your instrament cluster until it shows the trip mileage.

Then cycle the key off/on for 3 times without starting the truck. The trouble codes should then show up on your odometer display.

Thank you ModifiedDiesel, this worked.

"DONE" was displayed so my assumptions about the regen must have been correct. The next thing I am wondering about is if "DONE" will be displayed on the trip meter while you are driving once the active regen has been completed or are we supposed to drive around endlessly burning high priced fuel and time "for a minimum of 45 min" (as the manual states) and never knowing if the regen has been completed or not? Then once this is completed are we always going to have to schedule an appointment at the dealer to have the MIL light turned off and waist more time and money in the process? It seems to me the engineers should program the MIL light to turn off once the regen has been completed so you know its done and can finally quit driving and so you don't have to go to the dealer to have it turned off each and every time! What are your thoughts and answers guys!

Thank You,

Sarg

Was on my way to church yesterday morning (a whopping four miles from my house) when I got the "catalyst stat 80%" message. After church I took the truck out on the highway and drove at 70 mph for 45 minutes in an attempt to trigger a regen cycle. No luck--the alert went to "catalyst stat 90%" and then "catalyst full, service req'd. " (By the way, the key/odometer trick for reading the codes does not work on my truck. ) The truck has 1045 miles, put on in the two weeks since I picked it up from the dealer. Driving has been a combination of highway and town. I've filled it up twice, both times at the same station which has "ULSD" labels on the diesel pumps.

It seems to me that I should have more than a couple of miles of warning about the DPF being full, no? How hard do I have to drive this truck to trigger a regen cycle?

And one really odd thing happened--at least *I* think it's odd, although my husband doesn't--is that after I took the truck out and drove it for 45 minutes on the highway, my mileage jumped from barely 13 mpg (which is what I've been getting) to 15. 2 mpg. I'll hand-calculate it next time I fill up.

my truck also will not provide any codes when I turn the key from off to on 3 times in either the odometer or the trip meter.
Been there done that with the Catalyst 70%, 80%, 90% and Full
I had the latest flash 18-033-07 REV. A + Rev B
Mil light is n and off again. 13500 miles on clock

I called the two local dealers this morning. Neither can get me in before Friday, although both said it's okay to drive the truck even with the "catalyst full" message--I may notice some decrease in performance but unless the engine light starts blinking I should be okay.

Both dealers also said their diesel techs are just swamped/buried/overwhelmed. The one tech told me that they have to re-flash the ECM and the process takes about three hours. Apparently Dodge released a fix for for this problem so they re-flashed a whole bunch of trucks, then a week later Dodge issued an update to the fix and they had to re-flash all of the trucks they had already re-flashed. #@$%!

However, he assured me that once they re-flash the ECM, this problem will go away. Anybody know what the specific fix is?

Janet I would think that all that means is your engine is starting to break in. All those brandy-new tight engine parts and transmission parts and axle parts are hard to turn. Have you ever tried turning a rear end by the yoke fresh after a complete rebuild? Its not too easy. That would be my assumption anyways.

Hmmmm, no, I can't say that I have. :-laf I leave that kind of stuff for my husband to do.

I'd be thrilled if the engine break-in is upping the mileage. I routinely got 20-22 mpg with my 2500. This 13 mpg thing was kind of depressing.
