I seem to have experienced a drop in fuel milage over the last 1-2 months. I have changed fuel filters several times, switched stations I purchase fuel at, changed air filter etc. Have not noticed a drop in power but I sure see it in milage. Last tank full went only 385 miles. Have checked all turbo lines (pressure side). Any hints on where to look next. My dad and uncle swear it is the fuel. Both have large commercial boats (twin engine 350 to 1,000 hp) and have noticed an increase in fuel consumption also. I know that the refineries on the gulf coast are busy making heating oil for the winter and heating oil and diesel are cut from the columns at only a 2 to 5 degree differance. Maybe we are getting a hybrid blend of heating oil with the diesel to make it go further (yield more). Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I think it is fuel quality too.

Next to last tank yielded almost 15 mpg (equal to highest mpg before mods). Got fuel from the Flying J at Fraiser Park. Last tank back down to 13. 5.

I have been getting 20mpg (honestly) since day one and haven't lost a mpg yet though. These figures are empty! Not loaded... ...

It is hard to understand how different our mileage is with the same engine. I am now getting between 21 and in most cases 22 mpg at 70mph with the AC wide open. shortly after I bought it I was getting 16, 17. This is all empty. I had it turned up and I have more mid range power and my mileage jumped to 22mpg. I also feel the sulfer content will affect the mileage. Low sulfer fuels will yield lower mileage. I also thing that is a Cummins thing opposed to all diesels.
