I just want to know what kind of fuel milage you folks with the 3rd generation are getting? Been thinking about trading.

I think that there are a couple of threads on this, but I always like to see a new one start.

Mine has 5000 miles... when I took delivery, I got 17. 6 right off the bat. At about 4000 miles, It jumped to 18. 6. I do a lot of mixed driving... the past two tanks have dropped to around 16, but I've really had my foot in it lately  (I just CAN'T resist!!! :-laf

My 03 has about 4500 miles and I get between 18. 5 & 19. 5 solo and on my one trip of about 400 towing my 12k fifth wheel I got about 11. 5mpg going from Bend to Grants Pass and back. love the truck, much better than my 95 3500 CTD

New empty I got 17. 5. Pulling a 4000 trailer for 800 miles I got 14. 4. Pulling a 5th wheel (14,000lbs) at 60 I got 12. 4 and 11. 6 at 65. Now with 4000 miles on truck I get 19. 2 empty.

I only have 22xx miles on mine and just got back from a 1000 mile trip and got 17. 4. Oo. This was going from 70-80mph. I couldn't't be happier beats the heck out of the 8-10mpg I was getting out of my 454 gasser.

Dads truck (see signature) with 6000 miles on it

17-18mpg unloaded city

19-21mpg unloaded hwy at 70-75mph

15. 6mpg towing 8500lbs hwy at 65-70mph:cool:

'03 2WD, Quad, SLT, 6' bed, SO, 2100 miles on truck, 50 miles back and forth to work. 90% Highway. Mix of air on and off.

20. 1 mpg on computer, 20. 8 actual.

3. 73 Gear, Stock Tires.

(Of course my '93, 4wd, ext. cab, 8' bed would get 22 mpg but this is a horse of a different color... )

I haven't seen an EZ for the 3rd Gen trucks yet, but does it really have 5 settings, or did you mean a Comp instead? The "older" EZs only have 3 settings.

Looks like some of you have key information in your signatures such as tire sizes and axle ratios (to say nothing of the BOMB gear!) Without this info isn't it a little difficult to compare mileage? For instance a 3. 73 axle ratio with BFG 315/70R17's will run around 70mph at 1800 RPM. A 4. 10 ratio with stock 265/70R17's will need to turn about 2100 RPM to achieve the same speed.

The first of many posts I hope. What a terrific forum!! I'm picking up my new 2500 HO, 4. 10, 48RE, Laramie, Graphite/Taupe, XM next week.

maybe I should keep my foot out of it.

Lots of starting and stopping city driving, then some highway.

13000 miles on my 03 2500 Kalifornia Cummins Quad cab 2WD. I don't know what gear ratio I have.

Started out getting 16 mpg by the computer, then 15 mpg, now 13 to 14 mpg...

Maybe I should stop passing on the highway at 90 mph... Or last week going up the local hill at 104 mph. Well starting to slow down a little after a close call with the CHP the other day.

With 5000 miles, best highway was 19, empty going 60 mph. Average in town for work with lots of stop and go, some lead footing, some to 60 mph average is 14-15. Towing, last check was 12, at 65 mph max with some 4x4 low included. Trailers are pretty light<12K. It's nice to get 350 miles on a tank towing and 450-500 miles on the highway. These are all calculated at fill up milage.

Drove up to my weekender with about 200 miles on the new rig. It's about 85 miles of twisty mountain roads and about a 2,000 foot elevation gain on the way up (2,800 to 4,800). Trip computer said I got 20. 2 for the round trip. New truck so I was driving pretty easy, but still drove 4MPH over all applicable speed limits Between 35 and 65, depending on the stretch).

I was Oo. !

It's a 2003 QC, HO/6spd, 3. 73, SB, stock like a rock.

100 Proof

I am loving this truck!

I wanted to comment on this too. I drive a mixed Hwy/Cty of 12-13 MPG. I find this weak, however my 360 gasser got 8. 5-10 MPG. So, this is a relief. When I first purchased my truck with stock tires I was getting 15-17 mpg. So I am blaming it on heavy traffic, BIG tires, they do put alot of rubber on the pavement. I find with the bigger tires my computer is true, some how? I thought I would be getting better with 12K plus on her, but no true... I noticed she has more power now thats it broke in some, runs smoother, better take off power too. I believe I will probably start running synthetic soon, probably my 17K oil change. I feel we bought these BIG trucks for there power, bruteness, and towing capacities, NOT MPG? though its nice to have it too... .
