mild Modification ?

Hi gang, Wanted to know if anyone could tell me what mods were made to the SO to make it a HO? I couldnt really afford this Dodge to start with, dont know what in the heck I am doing, and sure as heck cant afford to blow the dern thing up because of ignorance on my part. I thought if maybe I knew what the modifiction was to the old SO then maybe I would attept it. This is a great site and I sure like the way you old timers take care of us nubbies, Thanks in advance.

The only hting you won't like about hat Cummins is the payments, I can promise you that.



The diffrence between the SO and Ho in 03 was basically two things.



1. ) The HO's have gallery cooled pistons with jets to squirt oil on the bottom of them.

2. ) A diffrent program in the ECM



Both Dodge and Cummins are/were a little vauge on the exact diffrences but it basically boils down to that.



If it's a little kick in the but you're looking for the Edge EZ will do nicely and is realtively inexpensive. It'll add 70-80hp to a SO and will give you a little more power than a HO. If you've got a few more bucks and want a box you can grow into spring for a Duration box such as the TST and just use the lower settings. The TST with it's timing advance will also have the side benifit of slightly better mileage and should you choose to punch it up it'll set you back in the seat while you embarrass a few Powerjokes You'd have to pry my TST from my cold dead hands
