I want to change from 265/75/16 tires and go up to 285/75/16 and wondered what mileage to expect from change ,increase or decrease ? Currently I get about 16. 0 around town and about 18 hwy ,I've got a Rip Rook Magnaflow Polished exhaust in the mail and hope this will help as well once I get it installed. Any thought will be helpful.

FWIW, I made the swap from 265's to 295's and I can't tell that I lost any mileage at all, nor did I gain any. I did lose just a tad acceleration though.

And, the handling is a little different with the taller sidewalls. Not better or worse, just a little different. Now that I have them, I don't think I'll go back to the 265's because the larger tires look better on the truck, IMO.

The exhaust you have coming may not help mileage as much as you think... it's been my experience that better mileage comes from paying more attention to throttle usage, all things being equal. All my previous vehicles have been gassers, and while the above advice applies to them as well, freeing up the intake and exhaust increased engine efficiency and performance on them much more than it has on my current truck.

More air in and out helps EGT's on a diesel more than increasing MPG's.

I think mine is real close to the same, I used to get 395-400 miles on it before the fuel light came on. Now I get 360-370. I have not adjusted the spedometer for the larger tires. I still get 500 miles to a tank before refilling and usuall has 4 gallons or so still in it.
